Not really. The leadership is disintegrating, and WLP should step down and retire, but the 5 million members like myself - we're still here. Because the NRA leadership turned out to be two faced embezzling bastiges doesn't mean I or any other NRA member will suddenyl vote Demonrat. However, I see many NRA members also joining Second Amendment Foundation and Gun Owners of America.

Someone called...?

My comment in this thread is... Watch what a politician *does* not what a politician says.

Watch what laws, budgets, and formal orders are made by a President.

Pay little attention to public statements and statements made to cheering crowds. They mean very little in the end.

Watch very carefully what they actually *do.*

I think with certain, bombastic, over-the-top politicians, what they *say* is so exciting and bombastic, some folks ignore (or even justify) the politicians formal actions that violate their bombastic original statements and false promises.

Conservatives are educated.

Conservatives study, read, and analyze the actions of politicians... We pay attention to their, "Conservative Review," grades. We are educated.

Watch what a politician actually does... Not what a politician says.

If you are a conservative, you watch what a politician does. You criticize, and condemn those who do not keep their campaign promises.

You know, I have alot of really smart friends.  Smart successful business leaders.  Very successful.  Very smart.  Some are even as smart as me.  Some of the most successful people in the whole world.

And, all of them, they say to me, you know, Trump is doing a wonderful job.  He won the election in 2016.  Bunch of people didn't think he would win, but he did.  So, he is the winner of the election.  Now, he is the President.  He is the President of the United States.  Our nation.  Don't believe the fake news that says he is not the President.  He is the President.

Plus, just look at his wife.  What a beautiful women.  She was a model.  Think of Trump's Obamacare replacement plan as a woman.  Sure, you have not seen it yet, and it has not even been drafted.  But, if it had been drafted, it would be beautiful.  Trust me.  Like his wife.  Only the best.  And, everybody says, she is beautiful.  Just stunning.

Many people also say, and I have heard this quite often, all the time, she is the most beautiful woman that ever lived.  I was in the airport in Denver just the other day, a wonderful place, great airport.  We love the Denver airport, don't we?  I fly in there all the time.

Colorado has some problems, we all know that, but they have a great airport.  All our airports should be like that.  I'm in construction, so I know beautiful airports.  Everyone should go see the Denver airport.  I love the Denver airport.

This man came up to me and said the First Lady is the most beautiful woman that has ever lived.  Then, we talked about how the media refuses to report on this fact.  Dishonest media.  If they refuse to report that the First lady is the most beautiful woman that ever lived, what else are they hiding?  Bet they don't even report about the beautiful Denver airport.  Its wonderful.

They have this place there called Root Down.  Its a funky bistro in the airport.  Good people.  In the beautiful Denver airport.  Its wonderful.

Many people don't know this but bistro comes from the Greek word bison.  And, bison, some call them buffalo, the Greeks call them bison, used to roam the great plains.  A huge stretch of land in the midwest.

I love the midwest.  I've seen it myself.  It is huge.  The great plains.  Great people out there.  We love the midwest, don't we?  I do.

Oh, crooked, crooked Hillary.  She probably doesn't even go to Denver.  I know alot of people in Denver.  Trust me, I do.  Alot of people.   Very smart, very successful people.  And, I asked them, hey, have you ever seen Hillary?  I call her crooked, crooked Hillary.  She lost the election.

And, they all say, everyone says, they have never seen Hillary in the Denver airport.  I asked the people at Root Down, good people at Root Down, working hard to run a funky bistro, good Americans, there at the beautiful Denver airport, and they have never seen her.  What kinda person doesn't like a funky bistro?  But, the media, the dishonest media, remains silent.  Can't trust them.  No sir.  Can't trust them.

Crooked, crooked Hillary.  She hates the Denver airport and the Great Plains.  Great Plains, Great Plains, I tell you, from sea to shining sea.  Crooked, crooked Hillary.

LOL.  Based on the new "special snowflake" CoC here, I don't think many people understand the gun community.
Hell,I don't understand the gun community-supposed to be pro 2nd Amendment, but constantly support those who pass laws against it.
We are to the Republican Party what black people are to the Democrats.
Yep.

And like the blacks, most are proud of it.........
I always envisioned our relationship with the Republican party as looking like this.

That's the thing,we do have somewhere else to go.

BUT,that whole support the team shit keeps most tied to it (like the blacks with the dems).

What is the other option?  A third party?
Yes,BUT,it only works if the majority want smaller gov.,less spending, and an original 2nd Amendment. And we know that's not the case,so some of us will vote 3rd party, and the rest will obediently pull the R lever no matter what, and we'll get the government we deserve................
So the parties are representing what the majority want?  That's shocking in a representative government.  If only the minority had a recourse in a representative government.
The majority are ignorant and apathetic and probably don't know what the Constitution is...............
The problem with such statements is that you really can't prove them, nor are they indicative of anything else other than how you project the public to be.
I would say the proof is in who we have in office, and who is trying to get into the top slot.

I am not projecting anything-simply observing and reporting what I see.I don't remember the Constitution setting up a huge redistributionist nanny state government so many want.

LOL, it doesn't matter if you heard for 100 years, it is something that applies to every election.  You have a choice of someone not great and someone who will be terrible.  One of those two is going to win.  Scream at the sky all you want about 3rd parties but they have accomplished nothing over those same 30 years.

What you should be doing is spending time and money to help pro-gun candidates in the primary.  But doing nothing and then bitching about the results is much easier.

Yeah.you're damn right I'll bitch when I get fucked over.I voted for a guy the said the 8 year assault on our 2nd Amendment was over, and that he was going to cut spending. We got more gun control in the first 2 years ,then we did under the 8 years of obama.

But I'm not a Battered Wife that will just take it and make up defenses/justifications for it.

"Perfect Candidate"? How about a mediocre Republican Candidate/President that doesn't pass gun control (and not give us anything pro gun),increase the size and spending of the gov.??

Is that really too much to ask from the Party that used to run on that???

While Trump himself will deny it, and he's made statements contradicting it, I got the impression that Tump is uninterested in firearms and basically followed NRA leadership's very public stances in his positions on gun issues in cases that have angered many here.

If we want Trump's gun position modified we're going to have to get him to listen to another pro-gun org or change the NRA's leadership to more reflect a no compromise pro-gun rights stance.

Trump himself said that NRA is a paper tiger... and he's right.  When nobody gives attention to NRA because it compromises on 2nd Amendment is becomes politically irrelevant.

YMMV

As I've posted before many times, Trump is the best pro-RKBA President in many decades.

With Pelosi running the House, and so-called "conservatives" electing Democrat Senators in states like Alabama, West Virginia, Ohio, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Nevada, Arizona, and Montana last year, we won't see any pro-RKBA legislation until 2024 at the earliest.  Unless you want to cut a deal with the dems....

Therefore the only way to impact change at the national level is with judicial rulings.  Trump is doing a great job at this.  2 outstanding USSC judges.  A record number of circuit court judges.  99 district court judges.  And many more on the way.

Personally, I think it sucks even worse, when the person who supposedly has your back, instead deliberately stabs you in the back.

I'd rather face the guy whom I know wants to stab me in the face, because I'm ready to fight them tooth and nail.

Other folks have already voiced it though; if you value the 2A, vote for the candidates who've proven that they're pro-2A, not the ones who are anti-2A, or the ones who claim to be pro-2A, but have shown that they're willing to pass anti-2A.

Don't spout that BS about, "Yeah, but that candidate can't beat the Dems", because THAT'S how you keep supporting further erosion of the 2A. By continually showing ALL the candidates that they CAN pass anti-2A stuff without consequences.

If, and only if, they realize, "Hey, there's a significant block of voters who won't support you if you pass ANYTHING anti-2A", will they understand not to keep passing anti-2A stuff.

But as it stands now, they know it doesn't matter, because folks let them slide when they pass anti-2A stuff, with the, "Who else we gonna vote for?" sheeple mentality.

How does that "lesser evil" part play out in the long run?
It's that whole #gottasupporttheteam mindset-Make excuses/justifications/defenses/counter accusations when our side passes gun control (or increase spending, expands the size of gov.,etc..) and bitch about the left doing it.
What is this long term plan of lesser evil each time going to give us?

Yep.

Any Republican that voted for gun control of any kind, should have been thrown out,and never been elected to anything again.

Instead, they get rewarded.Remind me again what you get when you reward bad behavior??

I support Trump but he is painfully ignorant of the 2nd amendment and gun culture. Hopefully he'll take some clues from those in his administration who are better informed. I have seen zero progun democraps in my life. Clearly there are those here who are "democrats first" and Americans second.

Damn, you prove your own point............. Trump knows the vast majority of gun owners will; support him no matter what,so he can play some lip service.

This is why we are where we are,and where we are headed.

What do you get when you reward bad behavior instead of holding them accountable???
Solution?  Please?
Dont vote for gun grabbers.(democraps)
If that is too hard for you,
Don’t promise to vote for gun grabbers.(democraps)

So it's OK to vote for gun grabbers as long as they are Republicans??

Trump doesn't give a shit about the 2nd.He just spouts off shit the rubes eat up so he gets some cheering crowds.Just like "Lock her up".

A cult of personality, and he KNOWS the vast majority of gun owners will vote for him NO MATTER WHAT he does or doesn't do.

Some of us have less tolerance for ANY gun control from someone of the party of the 2nd Amendment. He lost my vote over Bumpstocks, and reaffirmed it buy signing another spending bill after promising to not do it a 3rd time.

I'm sure it will work out great in the long run though...........after he's reelected,THEN we'll see all the pro gun stuff happening and spending get cut drastically. This time for sure.

There really is no solution. The vast majority don't believe in smaller government or less spending,so we will end up getting the government we deserve.

He banned bumpstocks by EO which might have opened up a Pandora's box, he is for red flag laws that can and will abuse due process...…...one more anti gun initiative and I just plain will have had enough.

I cannot keep ignoring this stuff because I know a democrat will be worse...…..it will be my personal limit.

It’s a sound bite. He don’t give a fuck about your rights outside the right to vote and he wants you to vote for him.

If he cared about the 2nd amendment he would talk about it and push to reenforce it and make it great again. He doesn’t.

@carguym14 is right.  When we have a Democrat as President, the Republicans tend to ban together and block gun regulations.  When we have a Republican President, they write them.

Remind me again, how many firearm regulations went into effect during Obama's eight years?  How many during Trumps first term?

You're right, I guess I should have stayed home or voted for Hillary instead.  That would have showed them. In the end you have to vote for who you think will screw you the least because none of them give a damn about me or the rest of the middle class.

the solution... or at least the first step in the solution... is to be truthful with yourself and others, and the President.

perhaps some introspection? "How could I have possibly thought that he was going to be a friend of the 2A?"
