Those positions are probab!y filled by honored guest and senior officers, some of whom might be a little too old and unaccustomed to standing still for a long time.
I hope he is okay. |

The queue tracker is now stating that the queue is "at capacity" = so a full five miles long, and people are being informed NOT to join it as they'll be refused a place
My guess is a queue will form of people waiting to queue in the main queue Her Majesty The Queen's Lying-in-State | Queue Tracker ....and the last time I looked, just after midnight, it was saying that the queue then was 4.9 miles with a MINIMUM time to reach Westminster of 14 hours! ETA: BREAKING NOW on GBTV News - there IS a queue for the queue, and it is now being allowed to join the actual queue - as they'd been waiting in an adjacent (locked) park! ETA 2: Website now stating that the expected queue time is now over 24 hours!! TV news was saying the queue for the queue may itself be around 4 miles long now.... The "issues" with the queue length are around the number of welfare points and the like that they can man/monitor - so the 5 mile length was one that was chosen for logistical reasons |

If you missed it, this was played in Westminster Abbey at her memorial the day after she died:
Bagpiper plays the Lament, "The Flowers of the Forest", HM Queen Elizabeth II, 9th September 2022 I've heard the lilting, at our yowe-milking,Lasses a-lilting, before the dawn o' day; But now they are moaning, on ilka green loaning: The Flowers o' the Forest are a' wede away. At buchts in the morning, nae blythe lads are scorning The lasses are lonely, and dowie, and wae; Nae daffin', nae gabbin', but sighing and sabbing, Ilk ane lifts her leglen and hies away. In hairst, at the shearing, nae youths now are jeering The bandsters are lyart, and runkled and grey At fair, or at preaching, nae wooing, nae fleeching The Flowers o' the Forest are a' wede away. At e'en, at the gloaming, nae swankies are roaming 'Bout stacks wi' the lasses at bogle to play; But ilk ane sits drearie, lamenting her dearie The Flowers o' the Forest are a' wede away. Dule and wae to the order, sent our lads to the border The English, for aince, by guile wan the day: The Flowers o' the Forest, that foucht aye the foremost The pride o' our land, are cauld in the clay. We hear nae mair lilting at our yowe-milking, Women and bairns are heartless and wae; Sighing and moaning on ilka green loaning The Flowers o' the Forest are a' wede away. |

Man is arrested for GRABBING Queen's coffin: Black-clad mourner rushes from queue and lifts Royal Standard off late monarch's casket before being tackled to the ground - leaving girl, 7, injured and onlookers gasping in shock
Police have arrested a man who attempted to grab at the Queen's coffin - in an incident which left mourners stunned. Officers tackled the man to the floor during the jaw-dropping incident, which took place around 10pm at Westminster Hall on Friday. It is believed the man pushed through a queue of mourners, among them a seven-year-old girl, rushed up to coffin and tried to lift the royal standard. He is then thought to have put his hands on the Queen's casket. A spokesperson for the force said: 'At 10pm on Friday 16 September officers from the Met's Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command detained a man in Westminster Hall following a disturbance. 'He was arrested for an offence under the Public Order Act and is currently in custody.' A spokesperson for the the UK Parliament, said last night: 'We’re aware of an incident in Westminster Hall, in which a member of the public moved out of the queue and towards the Catafalque. 'They have now been removed from the Hall and the queue restarted.' The Queen lying in state at Westminster Hall has been covered via live stream on the BBC 24-hours a day since the coffin arrived on Wednesday. But the cameras, which are delayed for around 30 seconds, quickly cut away from the coffin around 10pm on Friday. The cameras did not turn back to the casket for around 15 minutes. One mourner who witnessed the incident, last night told The Sun: 'It happened so fast.' The mourner, who did not wish to be named, described members of the public 'hysterically crying' and 'shaking' after the incident. It comes after King Charles and his siblings, Princess Anne and Princes Andrew and Edward, on Friday mounted their touching final vigil for the Queen before the late-monarch is laid to rest on Monday. Ding dong the queen is dead... innit quite a cream crackered clanger?
Charles, being more than a bit skew-whiff "par", will make a pear-shaped dog's dinner of Great Britain. Peons, prepare to be gutted! I'll be miffed if Charles doesn't come down with the dreaded lurgy. |

He WAS given dispensation to wear it last night when the Queens grandchildren did the stint in Westminster: beforehand, he had the ER II insignia removed from his uniform. |

at the funeral, i wonder why Biden wasn't wearing coat tails. seems the other heads of state are wearing coat tails (penguin suits). did he think this was casual dress? or not compatible with diapers. I feel sorry for the folks sitting next to him, behind him.

wow, on a grand scale, the Brits really know how to pay their respects and tributes. no other country could do that. it is well deserved.

Godspeed, Elizabeth.
I fear America lost a critical ally in Queen Elizabeth II. She is among the last Britons to see firsthand, all that America did for the British during WWII. |
