He's Australian.  School administrator.  Probably all covered with no worries.  Plus, his wife's boss was driving

That was harsh.  He just tipped over.  TBI most likely.   Wear your fucking helmet and ride in control.

My brother's ex GF endo'd one a few times.  The insurance claim $$ was spectacular.

Having driven one of those, they get really, really squirrely fast.

some folks think putting a roll bar in a car makes it safer than a normal car, it is after all what race cars do. folks dont realize that rollbars can create dangerous situations in and of themselves, like having your head slammed into one at x g force. in a situation like that you want restraints and a helmet. the bar simply keeps you from being a pancake underneath the vehicle if it rolls. its very misleading to assume thats all you need.

3 wheelers were popular for a while till a number of roll overs injured folks and they quit making them. would not be surprised to see this type of 4-wheeler go the same way.

wut? I'm not sure what that has to do with my post...unless you are implying they would have been better off without the cage...

I believe so.  Most likely a ruptured aorta from a sternum impact in the crash.  Dead man walking, then just dead.

I have a HS friend who's son spent months in rehab after crashing an ATV.  It fucked him up so bad he still walks jacked up, 10 years later.

That's the one I expected to see on page 1.  Guy is lucky he ain't D-E-D dead.  Dumb bastard.  I own a XP1000 RZR and it's fun as fuck, but I always try to be aware of what can happen if shit doesn't go to plan.  Especially with steep climbs and high speed.

PS, If I think I need to hit a hill that hard to climb it, I won't even try.

Higher end side by sides run like 25K.  They look a lot safer and funner then regular quads. I don't see the market for them going anywhere. When your engaging on fuckery of that level you should be properly secured and wearing a decent helmet and eye protection though.

I think of this quote every time I ride my bike.

Nothing like hitting triple digits within a matter of seconds on a bike. I bet flying a fighter Jet is quite the experience as well.

RZR 900's around these parts go for 13kish brand new...but most guys get the XP 1000 as our trails allow 64" Atv's.  You would be nuts not to insure one of these, my 8k atv is insured.  I know if it get's smashed by a tree, by nature or by me it will be paid for.  ATV's are getting very quick these days, my 570 will go easily 60+(we can ride them on the roads here).  There is a definite trend towards SXS's with a full cages over ATV's and it is one that that is probably the best thing for trail riders.

Big fun with more protection....i have gotten tossed an ATV once i was being an asshole doing donuts at 19 and i caught a gravel patch so the atv slid over on its side, tossed me off and scraped some plastic and some of me but other then that all was fine...lesson learned it could have been much worse.  But Trail rigs having harnesses and cages is probably one of the best things for this sports especially in the recreation side of SXS's

You want the crotch straps to keep you from submarining. If you hit something hard enough you can slip out the bottom of the harness, which is not pretty
