QFT.  In anything with a harness, that harness should be so tight it is hard to breathe, let alone move.

I stick to two rules offroading:

Never get into the passenger seat of a SxS

And

2-wheels is always better than 4 when you get into a shitty situation.

"Everything is great until Paco overestimates his driving abilities..."

I'm convinced that most of these crashes in the gokart ATVs are completely inexperienced offroaders being given the ability to go super fast without the risk of injury that doing the same thing on a dirtbike or fourwheeler has. So they don't really learn "to ride" and read terrain. It's like Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park, "You read what others had done and you took the next step. You didn’t earn the knowledge for yourselves, so you don’t take any responsibility for it."

Sounds about right.  But I only see the crazy stuff on YouTube, some guys think they bought a trophy truck, or Sprint car..  others are just booze fueled dipshits.  Sometimes a combo of both.

I've only seen one wrecked bad in my area.  Caught the rear tire on a tree at about 35mph.  Quick roll and done.

Can you get insurance for reckless offroading activities?

The insurance on my side by side is more than what I pay for my 2 year old 2500 sierra crew cab 4x4.....

My agent joked that the policy would cover me if I rolled it of a cliff.... makes me wonder how many people do just that when they get tired of the payment on their toy.

Its also pretty easy to flip a side by side, the tire set up on mine is for traction not play. It has tons of power but trying to do donuts and what not with it will tip you over in a hurry. I get so much traction I have trouble "drifting" in corners.

That is a 900.

The original XP900 came with rear trailing arms.  The 900Trail has rear a arms.

I almost had a head on crash with a RZR in Moab on Gemini Bridges Rd just a few weeks ago. I managed to stop, because I was only going 10mph or so in my truck. The guy barely missed me. He would have lost. I wondered if he had liability insurance on that that thing.

A tight harness is not just about keeping you in place but also about being able to get out quickly.  I learned this rig hopping in helicopters.  If you crash, submerge, have a fire in one of these SxSs you want to be able to get out fast or have someone else be able to pull you out easily.  A harness connection that hangs because it was too loose can cost you your life.  You want to be able to push the release and have the tightness of the belt eject the ends for a quick and easy exit.

In the offroad parks around here, the deaths are usually the result of people drowning in overturned units.

Pretty clearly concussed, apparent before they even moved his quad.  So cool of them to continue to shake his head around even after he went down the second time.m

Back when the Yamaha Rhinos first came out, my best friend growing up - his then-finance - got into one with a similar idiot.  Ended really badly, with all sorts of surgeries.  This was before they started putting nets and doors on them.

I had my own incident once.  In a John Deere gator, someone had put a chain on the floorboard.  My wife was sitting in the passenger seat holding our son, who was like two maybe.  After a few bumps, the end of the chain falls out of the floorboard, and catches one of the tires.  Violently, it jerked out the rest of the chain, and almost grabbed her foot.  I'm not sure what would have happened had it caught.  As it is it broke the hell out of her foot and she was on crutches for over 6 months.

I thought that trail looked like St.Joe.

I'll bet he was riding with the strap on his helmet unfastened and then when he flipped it came right off.  He's very lucky.  He definitely was acting concussed.

You really have to watch people close after they have an incident like that.  Most people want to jump right up and proclaim they are alright.  Lots of times they aren't.

My next door neighbor's brother is currently in a similar situation, too, ever since he hit a pine tree while driving a 4 wheeler at night a few weeks ago. He wasn't wearing a helmet and he came this ][ close to accidentally killing himself when it happened, too.
