Yeah, but in that case it was a great FIRST 20 minutes followed by a whole lot of WTF.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

We all sat in the theater waiting for the movie to restart after the credits. It didn't.

It's not that the ending was necessarily bad - it was very much true to the Python spirit.  It was just unsatisfying.

That's a GREAT meme!

The TV series Lost, was about the same. Started out intriguing, but after the screenwriter strike.... pfffttt. I bought the BD set when it was released, and after finishing season 5, I didn't bother watching season 6 until 2-3 years later despite having the whole series. When I finally finished it, I thought, "Yep. That's why I wasn't concerned about finishing the series".

Honestly though, that movie gets better with each time it's rewatched and requoted.  Not much memorable happens after the bridge of death scene so oftentimes the ending gets tuned out.

Not a movie but the show Bloodline.  Believe it was on Netflix.  They couldn't decide on an ending so did the stupidest thing possible I guess.

Have to agree.  Great crime thriller/kidnap movie that turned into a shitty vampire flick that wasn't scary, believable, or even amusing.  Salma Hayek notwithstanding.

Good one.  I'd argue that they just ran out of time and money though and the Navy probably pulled the plug because some pilot nearly ate it.

I'm sure that in some alternate universe, people get to watch the 3 hour epic happy ending.

This was the first movie that popped into my head upon reading the thread title. The rest of the movie is so strong that I still enjoy it, but the third act really stumbled.

I actually thought that movie couldn't have ended any other way.  The writers weaved such a tight narrative that a surprise ending like that was really the only thing left.

Beat me to it.

Truly one of the best graphic illustrations ever created.

GOT started with a submersion into a new, magical realm, then devolved into bros high-fiving from horse back. Proof that quality trumps quantity.

Writers ran out of material because they ran out of books to copy from.
