Lunch Lady here needs to find 30 minutes in her hundreds of hours of POI to maybe do some weapons identification training. But I guess that's 30 minutes less for sexual harassment and EO training.

RAF unit's fury at being left out of Afghan rescue mission: Top commander is blasted in letter from 63 officers telling him he had 'no clue' how to use the regiment

One of Britain's most senior defence chiefs has been criticised by his own troops for failing to use a specialist RAF unit in the evacuation of British nationals from Afghanistan.

Air Chief Marshal Sir Mike Wigston, the head of the RAF, has been accused of damaging morale and showing a lack of moral courage by members of the RAF Regiment.

The attack came in a letter signed by 63 senior and junior non-commissioned officers serving in the regiment's No 1 Squadron based at RAF Honington in Suffolk.

Air Chief Marshal Sir Mike Wigston (pictured), the head of the RAF, has been accused of damaging morale and showing a lack of moral courage by members of the RAF Regiment

It describes the failure to use the RAF Regiment in Afghanistan as an 'embarrassment' and proof that Air Chief Marshal Wigston had 'no clue' how to use the RAF Regiment, comprising 1,800 men and women across seven squadrons, properly.

One of the squadrons is trained in parachuting and another has a specialist chemical, biological and nuclear warfare capability – but the regiment's primary role is to provide protection for aircraft and airfields in hostile environments.

Referring to the decision not to send the regiment to Afghanistan and a sense of being overlooked for other missions worldwide, the 2,000-word letter says: 'There is clearly no voice… that has the moral courage to fight for the viability and survival of the RAF Regiment and the gulf between the troops on the shop floor and the commissioned ranks has never been greater.

'This is just another failing in a long list of issues currently facing the RAF Regiment and its inability to maintain its own standards and relevance.'

The author, whose identity is not known, adds: 'It is very clear we work for a risk-averse organisation.

'The management from the top is one of self-preservation, over actual deliverables and doing what is best for the Corps and wider Air Force.'

The letter goes on to say that the failure to deploy the unit 'has caused a great deal of upset'.

Last night the Ministry of Defence said it 'deploys the appropriate unit to each operation dependent on a number of factors including readiness, capability, the required task… and current commitments'.

She's an NBC specialist.

This link, Association of the United States Army,  indicates she's been in Germany and Iraq.

That faux pas is inexcusable and to me indicates a level of stupidity that leaves "Diversity" as the only explanation as to why she's anything more than a Major.

Taliban asks its fighters to stop shooting in the air after reports of people killed & injured in celebratory gunfire

The Taliban has instructed its members to refrain from celebratory gunfire in Kabul, describing it as a dangerous and wasteful practice. Reports said civilians were hit when militants fired in the air to mark a combat victory.

AP quoted an official at a Kabul hospital as saying that two people were killed and 12 wounded after militants fired their guns into the air in celebration on Friday night.

TOLO News initially reported that 17 bodies and 41 wounded people were transported to the same hospital after the gunfire. The numbers were later updated, with the hospital saying that two bodies had arrived there and 10 people with gunshot wounds were treated.

In a tweet, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid asked militants not to fire guns in the air because it was a waste of ammunition and could hurt civilians.

Ariana News said a senior Taliban member recorded a voice message saying that law will be applied to fighters if they shoot in the air again in Kabul. He was said to have warned that a large number of people had been taken to a hospital after the gunfire.

- All of the above?

That's quite a challenge they have set for themselves.

Knowing how the vast majority of brainwashed Americans are these days, this will just end up falling off the news cycle and most won't give a shit a month from now. IIRC, there was hardly any news about the killing fields in Cambodia etc. after we left Vietnam.

Taliban militants 'execute eight-month pregnant police officer in front of her husband and children by shooting her dead in her own home'

A pregnant policewoman has been shot dead by Taliban militants in front of her husband and children in a door-to-door execution, witnesses have said.

Banu Negar was killed at her home in Firozkoh, the capital of central Ghor province, amid increasing violence in Afghanistan under the new regime.

The mother, who worked in the local prison, was eight months pregnant at the time of the execution on Saturday.

Three gunmen arrived at the house and searched it before tying members of the family up and carrying out the killing.

Pictures have circulated online showing blood spattered walls in the house and her disfigured corpse.

The Taliban have been trying to project a more tolerant and moderate image of themselves since seizing power.

And they are on military bases with largely disarmed soldiers. I'm sure they have taken note of that by now. These are people that attacked our AFG bases with 10-12 fighters.

I still don't get how the amount of military equipment left there and the news seems like it's no big deal and most people could care less. Hear in the US they lock a base down if one set of NVD goes missing, over there, over 16,000 sets shrugs no big deal. And the amount of small arms. To me it's a mind blowing amount of hardware. Sadly I think this stuff is going to be used to kill US troops and tons of other people for decades come. This is HUGE. Yet seems like it's just business as usual lets go on vacation. Just think if a small unit had just left all there shit in some village because it was to heavy to carry back to base lol, the shit that would hit the fan for that. Yet we see this and, nothing to see hear people. I am just so confused.

Whats even more insane is that we’re not launching airstrikes to destroy it. We know where this equipment was it can’t be hard to find. It drives me insane that we’re okay with this. Every day that goes on gives the Taliban more time to organize and hide it. We fought them for 20 years and it’s so fucked up that we’re letting them keep all this .

I know. I feel like we played wack a mole for 20 years and NOW they are out showing them self's.... We should be going scorched earth. But nope... we just walk away and leave them better armed than when we went in to start with. It makes me SICK, I never went to Afghanistan but have a bunch of friends that did, and some of them came back messed up in ways they will never be the same, and another one killed himself (a couple years ago). This just makes me sick.

Wonder how it compares to the meals that were being supplied to troops assigned to security in DC, last winter?  As I recall, there were complaints about the contractor violating health standards on how long the food was in the styrofoam trays, between it being cooked and being delivered to the troops.  Fuzzy memory says the pictures didn't look too appetizing.
