Damn, just got an email from a local shop…. They already have one in stock.

Well done, Ruger.

Well Ruger did well with the 9 max too.
Trying to beat s&w to the punch but the Smith + was at the lgs first for me.
The days of a company announcement then 6 months to a year before production shows up for either company are over it seems.
ima drive in and see if the lgs has one.
They did good with the last 3 items new on the market so.

I'm sure its been said in this thread, but i'm not sure I would like an lcp to be larger, even if its only a little bit larger. And the sights are taller on it which certainly will make it easier to shoot at longer distances. But that's not what I have an lcp for.  To me, the lcp is a pocket gun for circumstances when it's that or no gun at all and it does well in that role. In most of my pants pockets, it totally disappears and you can't even tell theres anything in my pocket. I've seen a couple videos where they compared to a regular lcp2, and they described the grip as only a "little bit" wider, it looked like more than a little bit wider to me. I'll have to hold one in person before I make my judgement but making this gun bigger in any dimension diminishes the purpose the gun serves for me.

A thing I really like about how Ruger did the Max 9 vs S&W Plus is that they made them all optic ready….doing otherwise today just seems like a waste

Things would get so jammed up that I had a hard time pulling back the slide. I originally thought I was having a problem with one of my magazines, but suspect it's a feed ramp issue. It wouldn't surprise me if there's something just not right with the design. I polished the feed ramp to mirror, as I do with most of my pistols, and that seems to have helped significantly.  I just don't have enough .380 stocked right now to run through it to gain enough confidence to put it into EDC rotation.

I polished with some Flitz metal polish, using Conical Felt Point tips on my dogs cordless nail trimmer.

I carry my Gen 1 LCP regularly. It's been very reliable.

I bought a Gen II in 2020, but had some feed problems with it, that I think are corrected now, but haven't been able to shoot enough .380 through it to have confidence to carry it (my .380 stock is running low).

Definitely interested in the LCP Max.

Did the problem fix itself or did you do something to it?

I cannot get through a magazine without a failure to feed

None of the LCP's are rated for high pressure rounds; looking at the barrel thickness it's easy to see why.  From page 18 of the new gun's manual (but the LCP and LCPII say the same thing):

I won't be using it for a "target" pistol.  It's a close range defensive pistol for me.

You do you but I'm not loading that thin barrel up.  I don't think the Rugers have had the issues the KTs have had with blown barrels but there were multiple threads with destroyed guns on here when they hit the market.  Using Buffalo Bore as an example (they list a KT, not a Ruger as a test gun), you're only gaining about 100fps with their +P vs. standard velocity 100gr hardcast, why risk it?  I've got guns I'll push, but the LCP just isn't one of them.

Picked one up this morning at cabelas for $382 OTD.

Will go shoot it tomorrow.  Feels bigger than my LCP II but not overly.  My main complaint is that it's taller and I don't like the sights yet.

Height wise it's in-between a II with a 6 and a 7rd mag.

I painted my sights fluorescent orange front and white rear on my II and I loved them, and I'll have to see if they grow on me.

Ugh, you're making me read the manual?  Page 23 number "6.   At any time, if the pistol is not being fired, keep it pointed in a safe direction (downrange or in a holster). and on page 24 it says "For maximum safety when carrying the pistol with a loaded magazine in place, the chamber should be empty, and the slide should be closed. If placed into a holster, check it to be sure that the slide is not retracted far enough to chamber a cartridge from the magazine."  and also "Do not load the pistol until you are ready to use it, and unload it immediately when you have completed shooting. (See “Unloading Warning” on page 24."  So we have the "For maximum safety..." and the unloading it when done shooting comment but otherwise I didn't see anything about not carrying it loaded- in fairness I was skimming it so I may have missed it if it actually does say something like that.  I didn't bother reading the state comments as those aren't applicable to me and I really don't care what they say.  Being as it's Ruger, I'm sure they've had a boardroom full of lawyers read over their manual and it probably does say something to the effect of locking it in a safe, unloaded and never ever removing it.

I have an early LCP that I've shot so much as to wear out a barrel (Ruger put a new one on, and commented that I have one of the highest round count ones they've ever seen).

I would have been all over this 5 years ago.  Now I generally pocket carry a P365. I'd rather have 10+1 of 9mm in an easier to shoot pistol.

Recluse holster on either is your safety.

@p3590

Any idea on the round count?
@steelworker

Right around 3.5k.  It started getting off center primer strikes/fail to fire. The locking surfaces/cam slot had worn until the barrel didn't lock up vertically aligned.

I did shoot it way more than most people would. The gen 1 sights work at longer distances if you practice a lot.

I handled one of these pistols and it has a good feel to it. It is a lot bigger than an original LCP. I have never shot an LCP II so I don't know how it compares to that. It is cool and no doubt would fit in the pocket of dress pants or khakis but it's comparable to a J frame. I wonder how much it will weigh your pocket down with the extra ammo. May not be as unnoticeable as other LCPs. Tough call on buying one.

A little over a half inch in the grip only. To me the double capacity for an otherwise identical dimension is worth the inconvenience.  YMMV.

Yep, in pictures it looks a lot bigger but in reality the front of the grip is slightly wider and the grip height is a little longer, with a flush 10rd mag it's in-between grip length of the LCP II with the 6rd and 7rd magazines.

I took mine out Wednesday and put 130 rounds of reloads, 30rds of GECO and 20rds of critical defense.  Gun was very tight to begin with but started to break-in by the end.  Slide was very tight to pull back with a full magazine and the hammer in the fired position.  One failure to eject the first time I fired a round with a full magazine below it.  Other than that it did great, I believe it will just get better.  I took my LCP II out of my holster and carried the Max when I left. My 12rd magazines should show up today.

Very nice gun, kind of wish they had a version with the LCP II sights.

The "Anti Violence" Tax is why I go out to Dupage/Will or order online. It's $25 tax + Sales Tax

The only time I'll buy local is if they are willing to throw in a couple range passes to make up for the $25 county tax.

I didn’t even see them listed a couple days ago when I bought mine off gunbroker from a Texas FFL.  $471 with tax and shipping, then $30 with transfer. Even asked if my FFL could find me one to cut out middle man and none of his distributors had one available.

But I’m happy with the gun, and glad I held off from buying a LCP 2.  The extended double stack mag feels better in my hand, and trigger is GREATLY improved over the original LCP.

I held one at local store. $379. I have an lcpII that I had the slide cut for real sights. This would be cheaper than that option. I feel that considering the price it should come with10 and12 round mag and a holster that stays in your pocket when you draw. A stainless slide would be nice and a thumb safety option for fudds.  As a side note the one I looked at today did not hold open on the empty mag. The guy working the counter pointed it out to me. The one in the video did lock back so I guess its supposed to.

Those new long range sights are fine for 25 yard shots (you will never use sights with a CCW, it will be 6-12 feet at most).

If you need 25 yard (75 feet) sights for a CCW who ever you are shooting at will be deemed in your trial as "not being a threat" (reality).

Like I said for a pocket CCW these new long range sights suck ass for many reasons with their enhanced snag pocket pistol designs...stupid really if you understand it. I do like the double stack mags though but I want gen 1 sights that don't pull my pocket holster out with the gun when needed.

LMAO Have you seen all the idiots on here with shiny brand new guns with RMR, suppressor height irons, WML, and compensator mounted who claim they carry all that bullshit?

I'm always thinking, "Right, then why is there not a speck of dust or lint on the gun or holster?"

I won't be using it for a "target" pistol.  It's a close range defensive pistol for me.

Why do we insist on taking a great pocket pistol (LCP1) and “evolving” it into a mediocre target pistol (LCP max)

Then the LCP1 is what you want. The only thing that would have made it better was a heel-type magazine release.
