Jumping into this discussion now. Just finished "Round One". And now I am "Starborn".
Reset sucks, but let's see how this goes. |

Bethesda = Buggy
So I will say that I have experienced very very few issues in Starfield. Some typical Bethesda Creation Engine stuff, sure. But it is very playable and the few issues I have run into were in no way game breaking. Overall I think they did a very nice job. |

I just found possibly the single greatest side quest in Starfield. I'll put how to start it in spoiler tags and won't include any other details. Hopefully, among all the STARs you can visit, this plants a SEED of interest.
Click To View Spoiler You can overhear a conversation in Akila, or skip that and just go directly to the Charybdis system. You should receive a distress signal that begins the quest.
ETA: may not get the signal if you just fly to the system...in that case land at the settlement at Charybdis III |

Well I just ran into a new and weird bug. Landed in Akila City on the On The Run mission. Going to the Rock to give Shadid more encrypted stuff to work on, but every entrance to the Rock is a black nothingness I can't walked through or interact with. Map says Shadid and all of my waypoints for Akila City are basically out on a mountain way outside the city. What I quick travel there, I'm at the landing pad right outside the city entrance. Map shows the same far away in the mountains thing. Side note: the spaceship technician isn't in his hut, and I can't find him. The trade kiosk is gone, too. Flew around trying to reverse the bug figuring it may be connected to my new ship I purchased from the Crimson Fleet. Technician is gone at New Atlantis, too. But the trade terminal is still there. I have been really enjoying this game. I'm more than 30 hours in. But this is making me wish they would push some kind of update/fix. I can't move forward on anything in Akila City. I can't really move forward on anything. If I load my character from a lot of hours ago (somehow lost a bunch of saves because of some Xbox cloud problem yesterday), everything is where it should be. But come on |

You guys who are modding your games, perhaps you can illuminate me on something.
Is there a mod that adds helpful stuff to the interface? Mainly, is there a mod that shows you the system/planet/location as well as level of the quests in your mission list? I'm starting to chafe under the downright obnoxious mission menu... I have like twenty "activities" quests and every single one only says something like "talk to Santa" or "talk to Elvis" and it gets really tiring having to hit the "show location" thing to figure out where these assholes are only to see it ping a system a million miles away that is like level 60 which results in a Lana nooooooooope from me, only to go fishing with the next one to see where the hell it is. I also really really wish the loot menu would show you what a thing was without going into the full menu. There are so many weapons in this game with names that sound like feminine hygrine products and Japanese snack foods. When I'm looting someone I'll see something like three items... ammo, something I assume is their weapon, and something I assume is their clothes. But when all the game shows you is "4.8cm depleated dikfers", "Shasta", and "Pirate Assless Chaps" I always wind up grabbing the two first things and dropping the weapon when I find out its some goofy energy pistol or something I don't want. |

I maxed out Spacesuit Design so I could get to Special Projects 1, which lets me craft the final weapon mods.
I don't think it's worth it - at least before level 80ish (I'm 50). The juice just isn't worth the squeeze, and my character could have seen greater improvement if I put those last 5 points elsewhere. The last weapon mods give about a 10% boost to a weapon's DPS (for the few weapons that can use the mod...), so it's not nothing, just not worth 5 skill points. The spacesuit/gear mods are okay, but not worth the skill investment. I have a bit more carrying capacity, a little damage mitigation, and a slow regeneration outside of combat. Decent stuff, but not mind blowing. Solid B tier. FWIW, 4/4 weapon engineering is awesome and definitely top tier. I'd call it "must have" for any ranged weapon focused build. The rest of is the science skill tree sucks (unless you're going all in on outposts). |

So I romanced Sarah for that extra xp gain after sleeping.
Now true to life she got mad at me for something and I had no idea what it was. I asked her and she said I should know what I did wrong to piss her off. She then refused to be my pack mule for several in game days before calming down and following me again. I was going through that conversation like "WTF". It was actually quite funny. I also came across my first real bug. I docked with a ship to find some bottles of booze for a mission and while i was there another ship docked as well. So when I get back into my ship I am stuck in the docking room as our two ships are now merged. However just hitting R rather than E when entering the ship solved that problem. |

So was there an OTA patch released in the last few days? I haven't been able to play for the last day or two and when I started the game up this morning suddenly everything has HDR enabled now. The whites pop, the colors pop, and the game doesn't look like a gray washed out mess anymore. The difference is almost staggering.

Been playing this game for a few days.
This game has been a total blast, I love it! However, I am a bit lost in the game. The game doesn't really do a lot of hand holding unlike a lot of previous Bethesda games. Whenever I try to craft or build something, I need a ton of resources and I feel overwhelmed by how many resources there are in the game. Essentially it almost seems (at this stage in the game) like resources include the entire periodic table and then some! But this leads to a problem. In most games that involve crafting, you either have nearly unlimited storage space... or there are fewer resource types needed to craft things. Making it easy to stock on building supplies and always having stuff available to craft. But the number of resources in this game AND limited storage space means you pretty much have to create a grocery list and go individually hunt for the individual resources that particular item you're trying to craft ... requires. So what is the best advice for getting started with crafting? It seems no matter how much random resources I gather as I'm out and about, I *STILL* have not come across a single "recipe" I can complete with anything I have. I'm always missing *SOMETHING*. |
|
Quoted: Another wonderful contribution, thanks! I haven't tried it but it looks like Equipment Tier Prefixes will get rid of the random words that show up for certain traits. Should simplify the item back to what it is though you won't know it's effects at a glance? There's another prefix mod that's developing slowly which tells you what something is before the word soup that follows. It looks like it doesn't do weapons or apparel, yet. I'm hoping we get one that recategorizes items, too. Move digipick to aid and maybe move food out of aid? Weapon and apparel mods are level locked, too? I hadn't noticed but didn't know what to look for, either. I'm seeing it with ship parts, though. Those seem to unlock faster and are only visible based on level and not Starship Design eligibility. Time for a mod that shows everything and their requirements! for anyone that doesn't mind a little cheating, achievements will still unlock, you can find several chest you can loot.
in New Atlantis you can get like 72k in money each time the chest respawns the goods in it but can be a little difficult to pull off cause you got to get under the map. however in Akila a chest exist where all you have to do is crouch/sneak and point your cursor at the correct spot. you only get 5k credits at a time but you can get so much more as it is the chest that holds everything a vendor is selling. i keep resetting the chest for ammo, medpacks, and digipicks. lol. |
