I'm no expert but from what I can tell, for lack of a better word, "perversion" seems to be orders of magnitude higher in the furry fandom than it is in MLP. Furries don't seem to be able to distance themselves very far from the underlying kinkiness of dressing up in full body suits and drawing explicit art. Not that that makes them bad people, just that from the outside looking in it is understandably kinda creepy.
The MLP fandom on the other hand is based off a specific show and characters, not a general attraction to anthropomorphic creatures. Bronies on the whole are much closer to Trekkies or super hero fans. That said, rule 34 exists for everything. |

The furry community would do itself large favors by reigning in certain sub areas of the community. The colorful creative costumes in hotel lobbys when a con is going on is great to interact with normal folks until those same normal folks turn around and see a babyfurs or puppy play folks walking around in their 'gear'
