Well I don't know shit about electrical engineering, but if he wanted to build a "hoax bomb" wouldn't he have put something in it that looked like explosives? It sure as hell doesn't look like a bomb, because bombs require explody stuff. If he put some paper towel rolls in there with wires sticking out of the ends you would have a point. But he didn't. You don't have a briefcase with wires sticking out of it. There is zero chance that this was not done intentionally. This was engineered to look exactly like a bomb and get a reaction. This was done intentionally to make some sort of statement, most likely with the assistance of his radical father. He even said that he "didn't think he would get this far." I wonder what that means? Almost like it was planned or something. Pencil case, not a briefcase. Are you aware that he showed this to his Engineering teacher earlier in the day? Why would he do that if he was hoping to get a bomb reaction? And his teacher thought "[this is a bad idea] I wouldn't show that to anyone else." And he didn't. Until it went off and he had to explain to the teacher after class what had happened. Yeah, but the clock came with printed instructions, in multiple languages no less. Most high school students would have been able to follow the instructions, and keep the alarm from going off in class. Meanwhile, super genius, who can even follow the simple instructions of one to the simplest consumer electronic devices on Earth, is being invited to the White House, because according to POTUS, "We need more kids like you." Shit, if he can't figure out simple instructions, how many times have bystanders pulled a misplaced plastic bag off of his head? |

The problem is people are fucking stupid! Period.
If you think it looks like a bomb, you fail in life. I'm not an electronics person and I've taken enough things apart to know that those parts are the inner working of a commercially sold radio/ alarm clock. The case is probably an inexpensive item and it looks nice to me. The arrangement of the parts was poorly done for a 14 year old, but maybe he's just now starting. It is not an invention. A neat idea to make one different thing out of two things. Just not scientific. I don't care for Islam, but idiots are really proving themselves to be idiots with this. Crappy design but not a bomb. |

Shit, if he can't figure out simple instructions, how many times have bystanders pulled a misplaced plastic bag off of his head? Because no 14 year old has ever had a cell phone or watch alarm go off in class because they made a mistake in setting it or forgot to turn the alarm or sound off. Shit - my alarm goes off by mistake at work some times And we do need more kids like him. You think the fundamental terrorists are into science and NASA? NASA is a godless atheist creation. We need more kids interested in stuff like this (it doesn't matter if he is a genius or not, he can learn to work in the tech field) and the more modern Muslims in the US, the less fundamental bullshit we have. We should be encouraging this behavior. |

Yeah but he is a genius that invented the clock, he should know to turn the alarm off, but then again why did he invent the alarm to go off in english class anyway? It's amazing how invested in a conspiracy theory you all get. By arfcom standards I am in fact a tinfoiler. These guys are embarrassing. So both of you cant explain why the MIT worthy genius had the alarm clock he invented set to go off in the english class? How the fuck would I know? I wasn't there. I'm just a dumb Georgia hick thinking about the next time I get to fuck my sister. At least I don't see terrorists under every fucking bush. Remain vigilant, don't see shit that isn't there. |

WE all know whats going on here. Its all about making the US look paranoid about brown people. So the left can say"LOOK AT HOW THE EVIL WHITE MAN TREATS POOR MUSLIMS JUST TRYING TO MAKE IT IN THIS WORLD!!!" Who cares if the device looked like Little Boy or Fat Man. Its your fault RIGHT WINGERS! Not all of GD knows that, half still think this kid is an innocent little angle who had no other motive. Dude. This is fucking America. Want to live in some shit hole that puts people in prison for thought crime or their views, move to China. The kid didn't nothing wrong. His treatment was bullshit. He was denied council or talking to his parents. This is another case of a school acting like retards. Freedom is freedom and rights are right - even to people you don't like. Even people who DO commit crimes are afforded certain rights. THAT is what this country was founded on. We were founded on the principles of innocent until proven guilty. We were founded on the government not being able to unlawfully imprison you. Some of you need to fucking put your feels and suspicions and your biases deep down inside and start embracing American values or get the fuck out. Point proven, thanks! You should work for the CIA or Homeland Security, as you appear to have psychic powers. |

Meanwhile, super genius, who can even follow the simple instructions of one to the simplest consumer electronic devices on Earth, is being invited to the White House, because according to POTUS, "We need more kids like you." Not every terrorist is an uneducated goat fucking farmer. |

Yes people over reacted, however this young man created some of that over reaction by his own actions. |
