I'm pretty sure that Idris Elba has said he's too old to play the part. I think Tom Hiddelston could do it, but to many people would say "why is Loki playing James Bond?"  Michael Fassenbender would be good, too, but the Brits would collectively shit themselves if a German played Bond.

Agree on all counts but I definitely have a man crush on Fassbender. Maybe Henry Cavill? He was great to watch in the mission impossible movie, although he might be too muscle-y for Bond. Watching him with a PPK would be hilarious.

Idris is too old now.

I’m guessing it might be Richard Madden. He’s the right age and the same height as Daniel Craig.  Bodyguard was excellent.

Craig Bond was worst Bond. Didn't like any of them, as it seems his entire tenure was a steady deconstruction of everything Bond stood for and fans loved.

I haven't seen this latest one, and probably won't. Better things to do.

I'd like to see Henry Cavill take on the role.

If I'm not mistaken, Craig and Cavill were both up for the part but obviously Craig got it.

That’s been my guess for a few years. Hardy would be a good pick also, but I think the Bond franchise may look for a somebody with a smaller footprint than Hardy.

How is it stupid?  He retired, disappeared.  They just reused a number for one of several 00 agents.  James Bond is James Bond.  But all the other agents can be whatever.  People are freaking out stupid shit.  The movie franchise is based on James Bond, not a simple number.

Craig is getting old he's smart to walk

I only saw some of the bad Roger Moore movies and some Pierce Brosnan movies. I think the Moore movies suffered from a time when "a guy works a long week and wants a laugh and a smile with his wife at the movies after dinner out" like the Dirty Harry movies always having gratuitous and sometimes nonsensical topless women scenes

This, we saw it last night and thought it was great. I took no issue with another agent being designated as 007, and if you watched the movie you'd see, things can change

I saw it yesterday. It was more entertaining and cohesive than Quantum of Solace, better pacing than Spectre. A worthy Bond entry, though it didn't rise to greatness like Casino and Skyfall.

I didn't feel like I was sitting in front of a culture war, but I fully appreciate how this could be a Rorschach test that would allow the viewer to get out of it whatever angst they were bringing in. Those who felt like Bond bantering about his sexuality in Skyfall ("What makes you think this is my first time?" to Bardem) aren't going to see the series redeem itself here.

Commentary on the ending follows below, though I'm trying to keep this general and non-spoilery.

I appreciated the ending and the throwback lines and music to On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Unique for a Bond film, and it only worked in this case because it's a route they haven't gone across the entire franchise and because of Craig moving on from the role.

Making Bond a women will kill the franchise, other supporting roles can be changed just not Bond. Take Felix Leighter the CIA agent, the role has been played by both white and black actors and yet that’s never mentioned.

Who is mysterious "they"?  Spectre? Lmao.  The Bond movies are still being produced by the same people as always.  Barbara Broccoli continued her dad's production of the movies,  she's been producing and/or assistant directing them since 1983.  Only thing that has changed is the scripts got a bit more serious, less campy than the Moore movies I grew up on.

Going with Cary Joji Fukunaga and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. No real mystery at all.

The thing I liked about the Craig Bond movies was the lack of the evil megalomaniac plotting the end of the world in some absurd way from his secret island lair.

It works better in Austin Powers.

Pretty much this .

I dislike it when Hollywood remakes a movie but puts an actor of color ( black ) in where the role was a white before .

I don’t see the necessity of this .  Ya I went there .

I'm still pretty meh about it right now. Might change as I watch it more like Casino Royale. One of the things I liked about Craig's Bond, is the overarching story that tied them all together. 007 is just a number, so I wasn't upset about it being reassigned. Some of the humor in the first half-ish seemed forced and not very Bond-like. It even seemed like I was watching a live-action version of Archer in a few places. There were a lot of special effects that looked WAY too low-budget for a Bond film. Lea and Ana were, by far, the best pair of Bond girls ever. They were both gorgeous as all get out. I realllly disliked the newbie agent with Felix, but as it turned out, my dislike was well placed.
