My wife doesn't trust me to play it cool when she tells me that her annoying/obnoxious sister and her annoying/obnoxious husband will be staying with us for a week... intruding on nearly every aspect of our lives in our humble house, instead of staying in an F'ing hotel like normal people.

For good reason.

P.S. It happens every other summer, and she just informed me of the bad news for this summer a few days ago. Now I have something to dread for the next month, and then something to [barely] endure for a week or two. Now I have to figure-out things to keep me away from my own home, or locked in my man cave. Lord knows I won't be having any good sex that week.

It sucks man. I don't get walked all over in my own castle in any other way, at any other time... but my wife will ALWAYS be the "little sister" in her family and she always assumes that role. Fortunately, it's rarely an issue and she's extremely independent, sensible, etc. Really an awesome lady to be married to. But when it comes to her sister (or any family) staying with us when they're in town... it's always a weird Svengali thing. We've had a couple of good blow-outs over it. If it came any more often then every other year, it would have been settled once and for all now. But my wife puts up with so much of my bullshit that I figure she's earned that one little f'd-up deal. I do take it with just a little less tolerance each time though. They're almost dead IMO (in their 70s), so I won't have to tolerate too many more experiences. Last time they were here, the obnoxious husband was trying to tell me how to wire in my new LED porchlights. I let him know that he was pissing me off. When my wife and I got married, this guy was telling me all about CCW (despite the fact that I'd already carried for years, and he lived in CA and NEVER CCW'd). He's completely FoS. Also, he's almost deaf and likes to laugh crazy obnoxiously loud in bars and embarrass us all. He's not a bad guy per se (he and his obnoxious wife are retired CA school teachers, but actual conservatives), just annoying as all hell.

Ok, I'll admit it. I did put her jeans in the dryer once. I was helping with the chores. Upon further reflection "Your jeans aren't shrinking, it's your ass that's growing." was not the proper response to her when she called the serious error of putting jeans in the dryer. No, she does not trust me with the laundry any more.

I agree 100%. There have to be some compelling reasons for me to stay in someone's home rather than get a hotel room. I have no desire to intrude on other people's lives, even if invited, but even more importantly I value my own privacy and comfort.

About the 6th or 7th day the swelling would have gone down in her left eye enough that she could make me out a little bit.
