I'm in Central Oregon. A friend is a deputy in the middle of it all. He told his wife and 3 kids that they will not leave home that day. He's a pretty level headed guy, and I've never seen him worked up like this. The agencies are all planning for Armageddon and hoping for Y2K.
At the very least, traffic will be a disaster. We were toying with the idea of a 3 day backpacking trip around Mt. Jefferson, but even that sounds like it will be nuts. I think I'll stay home and see 99% and let the yahoos fight for the last package of Top Ramen.
ETA: Before school got out, teachers @ my nephew's school (8th grade) gave them a list to give their parents...what to buy for eclipse week! It looks like a pre-hurricane list, and we are not even in the area of totality.
