Sometime after Columbine, I went to an active shooter seminar which one of the parents of 1 of the victims
assisted in presenting. At the beginning, while details about the tragedy were running on the screen, this was the audio from it. I think about it almost every time I hear this song. Great song, but that makes it tough to hear. Praise you in this storm with lyrics - Casting Crowns |

"We're Gonna Ride Again" by Brantley Gilbert. Played this at the funeral for a club brother that they called my other son. Motorcycle accident... he was 6 weeks away from getting married. Damn it's dusty in here.

Pearl Jam, Last kiss.
If you like cats in the cradle. Queensryche’s, Bridge is a good one. Same kind of vibe. Silent Lucidity Pink Floyd’s The Wall has some compelling songs on it, especially if you’re going through a divorce. I don’t remember the song, but the line”Will you take the children away, and leave me alone?” (Edit to add. That line is from The Final Cut album title track)Even after my divorce and things have went ok with me and my kids for the most part, it can still make it get dusty. The album “The Final Cut” has some songs that can be emotional for soldiers. “Forward he cried, from the rear, and the front ranks died…” My father loved horses. Had a few he raced. So I have a hard time getting through “Wild Fire” without things getting dusty. Some of you guys in your 20’s and thirties might be getting a laugh at this thread. But at some point in your life that tough exterior starts to slip a little. Marriage, kids, life and ones lost will change you a little. |

Quoted: Simple Man by Shinedown played And boy did I have to fight back the tears. Just feeling like your trying to carry the world on your shoulders and/or that you feel like you didn't meet all of your parents expectations. And in the Song the he sings about his mother telling him she just wants him to have a good life, none of that other stuff matters. View Quote I always thought the singers rapidly undulating vocals in the Shinedown version were utterly ridiculous for the type of song it is. I honestly hate that version because of how he sings it. It's like when Hollyweird remakes a famous movie and misses the point and in doing so it loses its soul. Give me the Lynyrd skynyrd version any day. Simple and authentic. |

MercyMe - Homesick (Pseudo Video) My son used to watch Meet the Robinsons over and over. This song kills me because it reminds me of a time with him that I will won’t get back. A few among many:
Few songs hit like Motorheads "1916" "....God on my side, with a gun in my hand. Chasing my days down to zero...." Motörhead 1916 lyrics Janis Joplin "Me and Bobby McGee" Hits me for reasons that are mine and forever will be. Janis Joplin - Me And Bobby McGee (Audio) Billy Squier "In Your Eyes." Billy Squier - In Your Eyes Metallica "Unforgiven III" The line, "How can I be lost, if I got no where to go...." hits me hard. The Unforgiven III Lyrics Tim Mcgraw's "Dont Take the Girl" has a line that gets me hard. I have literally said that prayer. Same old boy, same sweet girl Five years down the road There's gonna be a little one and she Says, "It's time to go" Doctor says, "The baby's fine But you'll have to leave 'Cause his momma's fadin' fast" and Johnny hit his knees And there he prayed Take the very breath you gave me Take the heart from my chest I'll gladly take her place if you'll let me Make this my last request Take me out of this world God, please, don't take the girl Don't Take the Girl by Tim McGraw lyrics |

Many years ago Martini-Butt and I went to see Jessica Simpson in concert, and during one song MB held me close and was dancing/swaying with the music. That was a great thing for me, and when I'd play it at home after that sometimes she'd dance along.
Since she died, it's still a good memory, and good enough that it gets to me because it can never happen again. Jessica Simpson - I Wanna Love You Forever (Video) |

Years ago, a very close female friend moved away. I worked 11-7 then so after she left, I crashed. I had the radio on and they played the song So Far Away, by Carole King. It still bothers me when I hear it.
