That was pretty cool.
Glad to see them succeed.

My only wish is that America and NASA would have done it.

America did it. A private corporation. Which is even more glorious.

Factor this in with the new propulsion system.

Yes, it is no moon landing.  That was a great achievement, but I think that the possibilities that this unlocks are going to be more revolutionary than the moon landings.  45 years on and what have the moon landings really done to change how we approach space (and I am literally talking about the moon landings, not the Apollo program).

For the last 58 years we have generally been putting stuff into space in the same way with the vast, vast majority of the spacecraft being lost/destroyed/expended during the mission.  Shuttle was too damn expensive to be feasible.  This will change that.

The fact remains, you still got to get into orbit to use it. Hence why reusable rockets are a greater milestone, everything depends on the cost of getting it into orbit.

Maybe they can get it to land horizontal and save the crane costs.

They did sort of land it sideways last time.

I wonder why the center section is still white.

The part that the landing legs were covering is naturally still white.  My first thought was that the engine plume stained the bottom and maybe the second stage ignition stained the top... but I don't think that thought is right.  The lines are too clean and I don't think the second stage would be close enough to do that at ignition.

My second thought:

The color change I think is the result of reentry heating as it came back down... fast... If so... maybe that middle section is where the Liquid Oxygen tank is and as that's very cold didn't get discolored as much.

It flips over prior to landing.

only sorta.  no engines in the top... It comes back down butt first.  The boost back maneuver is done way up high... It is never nose down... The top does have some thrusters and I'm not sure what they use for fuel... but even if they used the same as the engines in the base... it wouldn't stain the sides in such a regular pattern.
I'm

becoming more certain my second thought is correct.
Here's a link to the infographic... it's for the barge landing... but it's basically the same for the land landing.  Just the boost back burn is longer. https://www.flickr.com/photos/spacexphotos/16892430560/
