IFMA’s Keller testified in March at the Illinois Senate Judiciary committee of his willingness to consider dropping the lobbying group’s opposition to the bill if his clients were exempted. As a long-time, dedicated anti-gunner, this wasn’t Senator Harmon’s first legislative rodeo. Like a shrewd negotiator, Harmon happily added a manufacturer and big box retailer carve-out to the bill so he could cobble together the last few votes he needed to get it through the Senate. Keller dropped IFMA’s opposition, providing cover for a couple of wavering Senators to vote for the bill. Sure enough, the bill passed the Senate by a single vote." So, Keller testified back in March regarding the carve out, and RRA is claiming they were blindsided by something that was taking place by thier own lobbyist over a month ago? This didn't all just go down on Thursday, |

MiamiJBT's attitude stems from the NRA's "A" endorsement of a candidate who turned out to be anti-gun. Nothing has been said or done by the NRA, so it's the same situation people are condemning RRA for. She voted yes for gun control then the next day begged for NRA endorsement. |

RRA's owner is at NRAAM in Atlanta, where he is meeting with a number of people about this. While many of the necessary people are in Atlanta, some are not which is complicating things. RRA has been opposed to this bill (and earlier bills prior to it for more than a decade) and is still in 100% opposition to it. Both our exemption and the change in our lobbyist's position from "opposed" to "no position" were surprises to us. We found out after many of you, and have been trying to make sense of it since. A statement will be forthcoming as soon as it is possible to make one that is accurate and complete. It may still come out today. | This is a very short sighted view by SA and RRI. They don't sell directly to their customers, and this law will drive their end of chain retailers out of business, leaving them to wither on the vine. This would be bad for business even if their customer base wasn't pissed off. Now they lose both their ability to sell in an entire populous state (no retailers) and piss off potential customers in the rest of the country. |

Steve/RRA RRA managed not to get fragged by how they handled the SAFE Act, which should have brought more heat. They may have played stickball with a hand grenade too many times. If a gun maker pays a lobbyist tens of thousands of dollars and lets him speak for them in gun legislation, then they should keep him on leash. How many bills are rolling through the process in IL that would affect manufacturers? At a minimum, this is a very laissez-faire attitude to fighting antigun legislation. |

Never liked "Springfield Armory", using the name of a famous US arsenal with a long and proud history to sell their Croatian and Brazilian pistols. Slime balls from the beginning.
Also not surprised by this, I hail from northern IL and the fudd mindset is very deep rooted in that part of the state. Lots of gun owners and dealers who support FOID, AWB, magazine bans, etc. |

There's another indisputable fact circa 2017. You're either with us or you're against us when it comes to politics. The days of compromise or neutrality are over for the foreseeable future. For the next 4 years we have to be 100% balls to the wall on the attack when it comes to pro-2nd politics. You either get on board the bus or you get run over by it. Period. |
