Well this thread made me start watching the series.  I love SW and not sure why I haven't tuned in before.  I'm watching it in chronological order instead of by season.  I'll probably be binge watching them on my days off.  Is Rebels worth watching too?

What the hell. According to that list they aren't even numbered in order? Why are the jumbled like that

It's not as bad as all that. There's a lot of backstory episodes, and they're generally really good.

Rebels was good too but it's aimed more at younger audiences.

Great video on Ashoka vs Rey.

Another comparison that is similar is between Rex and Finn, we even though Rex is "just a clone" we appreciate that he develops into much more over time, especially in rebels.

Then there is the super shitty "strong female character" of captain Phasma.

Exactly. Ashley Eckstein, the voice of Ahsoka, said yesterday during the panel that one thing that makes Ahsoka endearing is the fact that she has actual character development from a snotty brat to a seasoned and respected warrior. The audience’s reaction toward the character changed correspondingly from one of hatred to loving the character, and Eckstein said this was in large part due to the time taken to carefully develop the character over the years. As she was saying this, Filoni nodded in agreement. It’s clear that they knew the basic concept of the hero’s journey and applied it well.

You get none of this in the new trilogy. Rey is just a badass because she is female, and the male characters are stupid and flawed because they are men. It’s poor, lazy, and sexist writing that has turned off most of the fanbase, and for good reason.
She had to become a strong character, she did not just appear and automatically have skills...she got her ass whooped a lot of times, grievous and ventress straight up tuned her up, her style was flawed, she was scared, she knew whe was outmatched and she was weak.
They made her great, by not overdoing it.
Not only that but she still made mistakes throughout the show from the time she was introduced to when she left. She was captured more times than I can count, got mixed up with the wrong people, was framed by another apprentice who went rogue. But by the Rebels rolled around she had redeemed herself.

Clone Wars pretty much sucks.

Got all excited by this thread to watch it. Hit Netflix and got the list of true chronological order.

First episode: season 2, episode 16. What the Fuck.
Next session 1, episode 16

Then a movie,

Then season 2 episode something

No intros, no crawl text, just a bunch of nameless cartoon actors.I recognize obi,I think that's skywalkerbut doesn't look out sound like him.

I am not sure where your enthusiasm comes from. Who the Fuck releases movies in this tossed salad configuration?!

This is why I dropped it the first time, it's confusing as fuck and hard to understand what's going on cause it's so disjointed.

I'm going to grind through a grew more episodes but it's painful to start each one wondering what the hell is going on

As I said earlier in the thread, TCW starts off a bit rough. The animation kinda sucked and it was more childish. It’s a show that rewards those who keep watching past the first season.

Yes, it’s worth watching too, but it’s a show for a younger audience and there are some filler episodes. The way I’ve heard it properly described is that TCW has way more high moments, but Rebels has higher high moments, easily some of the best in the saga.

I’ve wondered why they wrote them out of chronological order. Maybe there were production issues on some of the earlier episodes, or they just decided to fill in the gaps later.

KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF MY LIGHT SABER!!

It's just irritating,  even the wife kept saying "who is this person" "what's going on?!"

None of us knew cause you literally start with season 2 ep16, so you're just dropped in the middle of it and not a clue what's happening.

It's making it Super hard to engage with.

It's just a piss poor way to deliver any serialized show.

The damn Simpson's deliver every episode in order, on time, for decades

Holy Cow

It took me a while to get into that type of animation. I remember when it was on tv and just couldn't watch it.
Decided about a month ago to force myself to watch it. Said if I can get through 4-5 episodes I think I could finally get into it.
Glad I stuck it out.

George Lucas said a million per episode for everything, not just animation. That's actually towards the low end of quality tv episodes, including live action.

Same here, but I really didn't like the fact that it was out of chronological order.  There were a few "WTF?" moments.  Certainly didn't ruin the overall experience, but I didn't enjoy the earlier seasons as much (in fairness, the first seasons had other issues, too).

Just saw the trailer on YT and came straight here to see if there was a thread started. Forgive me if this has already been asked, but is there any speculation as to who was standing beside Anakin at the end, with the long dark hair, red bandanna and jetpack on?

My favorite characters were Ahsoka (obviously) and Grievous. Asajj Ventress was also fun to watch after reading Dark Disciple (I've watched the entire series twice now, beginning to end). Maul and Savage were also fun to see come to life.

I assume the lost missions will be finished and included in this new series?

You will enjoy it much more if you watch in chronological order IMHO, there are plenty of guides out there. I'm in the process of reading the books, watching shows, watching movies in chrono order now. Makes it more interesting to me.

There was also the Crystal Crisis, which involved some of the funniest moments in the series IMO:

Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Season 6 ALL STORY REELS 1-4 HD 1080p

As for what we will be seeing in the new episodes, I’m not sure. We will for sure be seeing The Siege of Mandalore, which was supposed to be the series finale (you can see Bo Katan and Ahsoka in the trailer, which points to this being true). We aren’t sure if we will see Crystal Crisis or the Bad Batch episodes yet, or something else entirely since there were other story arcs completed. I don’t think we will see the Son of Dathomir or the Maul arcs because those were already completed in a novel and a comic book. We also don’t know if the episodes will be 20 or 45 minutes long (would be AWESOME if it was the latter). There just isn’t much info out there, but I’ll try to keep this thread alive so we can talk about it when we learn more and when the series comes out.

Ah, ok. Thanks. I've watched all the lost missions but only once so my memory is fuzzy on them. I'll go back and watch them again this weekend. I hope that by seeing Disney bring TCW back to life maybe we could get an extension on Rebels? I watched the next to last episode of Rebels this morning so I only have the last episode of S4 of Rebels left to watch and I don't want it to end.

He’s Sergeant Hunter, one of the guys from the Bad Batch, which involved a group of mutated clones who formed a special forces unit. The unfinished animation is on YouTube:

There was also the Crystal Crisis, which involved some of the funniest moments in the series IMO:

As for what we will be seeing in the new episodes, I’m not sure. We will for sure be seeing The Siege is Mandalore, which was supposed to be the series finale (you can see Bo Katan and Ahsoka in the trailer, which points to this being true). We aren’t sure if we will see Crystal Crisis or the Bad Batch episodes yet, or something else entirely.
Well, I won’t spoil Rebels for you, but suffice to say I don’t think at least some of the characters’ stories are over yet.

I think you’ll be satisfied. My wife hasn’t seen the finale, and we have just made our way through the series ourselves.

I thought Clone Wars sucked.

Tried and tried and tried. Terrible writing. They needed MILITARY ADVISORS so it wouldn't be stupid.

You didn’t want to watch an episode where Fives went to sexual harassment training, while Heavy got stuck redoing the weekend safety brief PowerPoint?

Just watched it. They can't leave it like that, there has to be a revival...

I never saw one PT belt in the entire series.
