So will this be the season 7 episodes that they had planned 5 years ago?

Also they need to quit fucking around and make The Rise of Vader.

Then get the Old Republic stories going. Even cover the Mandalore vs Jedi war.

Technically, Season 8. It is going to focus on the Siege of Mandalore, which is immediately prior to the events of ROTS.

I haven’t read through the thread but I just thought I’d chime in. I was at the panel this morning. It’s hard to put into words how cool it was. At the end of the panel they announced the continuation of the show and played a trailer. I don’t know if it’s been put online yet but I did a shitty ipotato video of the whole thing.

The best part was I ran into Dave Filoni on the con floor and got a picture with him. I shook his hand and thanked him for creating the best Star Wars content to ever be put on screen. Highlight of my nerd life.

I know some of you are big Clone Wars/Rebels fans so you’ll understand. I’d post pictures but I’m a freeloader and have been drinking. I’ll check back in this thread later and maybe get some pictures up. #clone wars saved

This is so true. Anakin in Clone Wars is one of my favorite characters of all of the SW genre.

Also, clone wars season 5 episode 16 has one of the top 3 light saber fights of the SW genre. Sidious vs Maul & Opress.

Darth Maul & Savage Opress VS Darth Sidious

No more Skywalker/ Solo stuff. Time to go with new characters

Sadly, this is how low the bar has become. Not A to Z. We are just talking about a simple three step process, and they fucked it up.

Come on Filoni. You got this.

Sorry, thread is too long to read and I won't understand it all anyway.

Are you talking about the cartoon that's on Netflix? My son watches it and has somehow become obsessed with Star Wars. He asks me questions and not having seen the movies myself, I can't answer them.

I've got the first six movies coming on Monday and we're going to watch them together so I can understand the story.

I understand there is a story between the movies. Is this cartoon part of that?

Look up "machete order." Watch the movies this way.

The full order is: episodes IV, V, II, III, and VI.

Watch the Clone Wars Movie(anime) that's on Netflix also. Ahsoka get's introduced. Then give up the rest of your life for a while and then watch the series.
It falls between EP2(Attack of the Clones) and EP3(Revenge of the Sith)
Trust me watching the series will give you a whole new appreciation for the prequels.

I've never thought about when to watch the anime series though as it came out after the movies.

Disney's takeover of Lucasfilm has to rank up there as one of the greatest tragedies in human history.  Comparable to the time when the Great Pyramid fell over and crushed the library of all ultimate knowledge and technology.

Like the Holocaust, but for Star Wars fans, instead of the Jewish.

Clone Wars Series is best Star Wars after KOTOR and original trilogy.  What KOTOR and Clone Wars have in common is character development and backstory.  Something the new trilogy does not have.

Ep7 although it was a rehash of Ep4 at least laid some groundwork for going forward. Ep8 completely destroyed that. Ep8 is like they had different people write portions of the movie and just copy and pasted them together..

It's kind of funny that you can have a character like Ashoka Tano...strong female, that pretty much EVERYONE likes, but then they try making new strong female SJW characters and fuck them up so much with the SJW shit nobody likes them.

Tano is just a straight up bad ass, that people like us like...but since SJW types hate us, they don't want characters like Tano.

The Clone Wars is back! 10th Anniversary Panel at SDCC 2018!

It’s very obvious that this crew really loves the saga and characters, and are far more knowledgeable and careful about how they go about writing the series and executing it.

Agreed. I think it’s because Ahsoka doesn’t have that “screw men, I AM WOMYN” kind of history and personality that the new characters do. She’s a badass because of her skills and her menta and physical toughness, and in Rebels she has found a great deal of wisdom and maturity. What you get is the best-written and most-loved character still alive after the OT, and one Disney should be paying a lot more attention to.

That opening scene with the gunship is 100% one of the previously developed segments. I'd imagine they'll pull from those quite a lot, especially since the voicing was complete for at least a couple of them.

Totally agreed on the other points, though I doubt we'd get Vader. His rise is well covered in the comics. I'm not much of a comics person, but the Vader ones are phenomenal.

This is true. It's also true that unlike the female characters from the new live action material, Ahsoka has character flaws that make her more relatable and on (truly) equal footing with her male counterparts. She's prone to rash decisions and rushes into things. We see her grow up as the series progresses.

The female characters in the new trilogy are presented as comparatively flawless, especially considering the severe character flaws possessed by Finn, Poe, etc. The new trilogy has also taken the strong female theme to the point that it isn't even believable. The entirety of the Resistance (God I hate that name) leadership is female at this point.

Exactly. Ashley Eckstein, the voice of Ahsoka, said yesterday during the panel that one thing that makes Ahsoka endearing is the fact that she has actual character development from a snotty brat to a seasoned and respected warrior. The audience’s reaction toward the character changed correspondingly from one of hatred to loving the character, and Eckstein said this was in large part due to the time taken to carefully develop the character over the years. As she was saying this, Filoni nodded in agreement. It’s clear that they knew the basic concept of the hero’s journey and applied it well.

You get none of this in the new trilogy. Rey is just a badass because she is female, and the male characters are stupid and flawed because they are men. It’s poor, lazy, and sexist writing that has turned off most of the fanbase, and for good reason.

This is the proper order.  It preserves all the surprises in the OT, and it makes the flaws of the prequels tolerable, as they are filling out voids mentioned in OT.

You could choose to watch TCW before ROTS, but TCW does a great job of setting up everything that is taken for granted in ROTS.

The energy level inside the room was incredible. Everyone in there was on their feet when they announced it. It got pretty dusty in there when they played Ahsoka’s departure from the Jedi Order. Between that panel and meeting Dave Filoni, yesterday is going to be one of the most memorable days of my life.

I personally liked how Anakin slowly but surely got darker throughout the course of the series.  The same with the clone troopers.

Literally and figuratively. If you notice in the trailer, Anakin doesn’t look very good. He has bags under his eyes and looks worn out. This makes sense, given he’s about to turn to the dark side.

Nice. Thanks for sharing.

On the same topic, I’ve found a video that explains perfect why Ahsoka is a better character than Rey:

Good video
Love Ahsoka, Hate Rey and she is a Mary Sue and I don't care anything about her.
Snips grew so much over the series and when she didn't come back to the order, that hit in the feels, just like when she battled Vader and cracked his mask and hear Anakin call her name.
You think about what all those two went through and the bond they had, from what Anakin was to her and what he had became. That had to kill her on the inside. That was a sad scene too.

I want to like the Clone Wars series. It's just too much noise for too little signal. Yes, there are bits and pieces periodically that add to the Star Wars story from the movies. But 87% of the content is mindless, pointless battles. Even the little taglines they put on each episode are sometimes really unsupported by the thin content. Yeah, it's a kids show. It looks like it. I just don't see it as more than that.

ETA - all that being said, Ahsoka is my favorite character, and the relationship between her and Anakin is the best thing in the series.

I'd say it's way more than bits and pieces that adds to the SW story. It fills the gap between Ep2 and Ep3. The Clone Wars is about the battles.
Heck you even see Kenobi's love interest. So many stories told in that series.
Also wouldn't call it a kid show with the way they kill people left and right.

I thought it was a kid show until I saw all the killing.
