The 1 thing the expanded playoffs will do that I think everyone here will agree on is put some emphasis back on being a conference champion. It’s the only way to be in the top 4 and get a first round bye. Notice how Utah and Clemson in that chart were in the Top4 and TCU and OSU weren’t? That’s a pretty big deal.

What the 12 team playoff would look like based on todays rankings and selections.

nobody cares

It's the second year in a row where 4 teams is honestly too many and we're accelerating  towards a 12 team playoff.

Sure some folks care.

And maybe this year it’s pretty obvious that Georgia and Michigan are better than everyone else. But it still needs to be proven on the field. So what’s wrong with watching Michigan beat TCU and Georgia beat OSU?

And in other years there have been deserving teams left out. 2014 TCU should have been included. A&M deserved an opportunity in 2020 a helluva lot more than ND. And what about Western Michigan going undefeated in 2016 and UCF in 2018? Is it fair to leave out undefeated teams?

Should participants be decided my men sitting around a table?
At least 12 teams will implement some predetermined criteria on who’s included and take the favoritism factor out of the equation for the most part.

Transfer portal, NIL, expanded playoffs, college football is changing and not everyone is going to like or agree to all the changes.

I suspect many many won't/don't/aren't gonna like the new football world.  Its changed a LOT in the last 10 years.  Looks very dissimilar to 20 years ago in so many ways.

I think the blue bloods will be the ones in the playoffs when they ought not be there.

This year its UGA, then UM, then whomever else with 1 loss.

I think KSU would be the slighted one in that scenario.  Utah > KSU with the same records and conference championships.

Uggghhh that’s a first I believe.
I’d be pissed if I was a teammate. He’s quitting on a team playing for a NC. That’s not equal to some meaningless bowl game.

Looks like it's going to be even worse this year with some big names bailing.

Bowl games have been degrading for a few years now with all the best talent sitting out for the draft. And your right, it’s only going to get worse with the portal. The portal opened today and everyone is in a hurry to announce so they can secure a new home.

Why are they all bailing then? Doesn’t sound like the job is locked down for next year?

Haynes King is in the portal for A&M but that was expected after freshman Weigman did such a great job when given the opportunity. King knows he won’t win the starting job so if he wants playing time his only option is leaving.

Shough (QB1) had some chippy comments post-OU win, so rumors are going strong.  He was preseason starter last 2 years and is 7-1 in the 8/25 games he's been available to play in..... he's also got a weak collarbone

In all fairness to the guy, after I posted that it was posted that he has had a reoccurring hamstring issue and it has limited his playing time all year. Sounds like OSU hasn’t really benefited from his ability this year.

Nope, his backups including Gundy’s son were not very good.  He was guaranteed the starting job and would have broken every osu passing record.  I’m thinking he’s pissed at Gundy.  Sadly I don’t think he lands a starting job equal to osu, there’s way too many Qb’s in the portal for a guy like him to land in a good spot.

Per ESPN

Georgia's Stetson Bennett, USC's Caleb Williams, TCU's Max Duggan and Ohio State's C.J. Stroud were announced Monday as the Heisman Trophy finalists.

The four quarterbacks, who all play for four of the top-10 teams this season, including three who will play in the College Football Playoff, will be in New York this weekend for the Heisman ceremony Saturday.

They've got Gundy's son, who is freaking useless, as a backup.

We will suck even harder next year. Maybe it will be enough to run Gundy out of town. Too bad his buyout went way up with his new contract earlier this year....
