All the people griping about this isn't the smartest person are not seeing how this works. We're not going to get that "golden apple" of a "Pillar of the Community"  with nothing questionable in the past,  charged  by the BATFE (use that  "E" heard it pisses them off since they can be a 3 letter bois agency) until they have thousands of these on record with a very well established Precedence". We are losing the war for court cases, that sets Precedence.  Which the courts and judges use from the past cases has already been set and is continuing to be set.  So that when your fantasy  ""perfect defendant"" is eventually charged, there are so many past cases that courts will refer to,  that person is   screwed no matter how much "Muh Constitution", "Muh Bill of Rights", "Muh if just read these other  past ruling....   These  test cases  and people who do slightly minor crimes(ones that don't hurt people) and that gives the  Agencies even more  power and higher ground for all future battles.  

What if people in the 1930's had teamed up and fought the NFA like hard as hell. That back then  a $200 tax on what $2.00 Maximu Silencer? if that was prohibitive and ban by any other name as most people could not afford and such an absurd tax over the cost was an exact example of you lose your rights when the costs of using them is prohibitive. That laws has stood the test of time any fantasy of getting it struck down became just that fantasy  by the 1960's...

So, I actually just read through all of the charging documents. It really looks to me like Matt is only being charged with conspiracy and only because he accepted sponsorship funds in exchange for promoting the product. In essence, he really just needs to prove that he felt that the product was completely legal. They also claim his go fund me campaign was furthering the conspiracy but that really thin at best. All of the structuring charges are against Ervin, who will likely have a real problem getting past those charges. Right, wrong, or indifferent, it's probably a violation of law.
