Sorry your definition of Socialism sucks. You hate all those rules? Really, get a life. We both lurked here before joining. I've seen the same changes but don't see the same problem. First off, rules don't make it socialist. If that was so, then you must think the Constitution is a socialist document too. ARFCOM has grown immensely since you and I arrived. There are more forums, people and diversity of opinions than ever, not fewer. The range of topics have expanded and there is the root of the problem as I see it. To be correct I should say it isn't so much a problem but an evolution. GD in particular has gone more the route of an Ann Landers gossip column and less of an open forum for discussing the weightier issues of the times. I'd much rather discuss the rise of socialism, or how can we counter the growing trend of societal decay. Instead we see more threads like What to name my dag. Good lord how shallow we have evolved. I got no problem cracking down on the foul mouth personal gutter talk attacks. That does not promote intellectual thought which originally attracted us to ARFCOM. Those that want peep shows can go elsewhere for their jollies. We've had ultra right and Left here. Their garbage doesn't last long. We see trolls for who they are and they leave. We've seen through the empty minds and the anarchists. They don't fool anyone. The Socialists you and I see as a threat to our freedom but if you are unwilling to engage them, expose them and defeat them with intelligent thought then up your game why don't you? Never fear the cheap shots, they are just shooting blanks. The war of ideas is as old as mankind. Stay engaged if you really believe your ideas hold any value.

It hasn’t gone socialist....but the level of “control” has ramped up, and it has resulted in a number of people/instances share bluing it up. I HOPE it’s just ignorance from the top that’s still allowing it, but I’m not sure.
The recent amount of bitching in regards to the management of arfcom is unbelievable though. It’s definitely a “where there’s smoke there’s fire” thing. |
