Is there any way would could get a PDF of sorts as an official ARFCOM target? Something that is the standard for us to shoot at and has a BFL on it so when when we use them at the range we might meet a fellow arfcomer. Offer them with and without BFL so you can play low key if you don't want basement dwellers bothering you at the range.
|
|
Tomorrow I shoot round 2... will probably submit another 6 group target though since it will also be going on 'the other site'!

I also want to recommend adding a 50 yard NVG/IR Laser class to it... was shooting my Block II with my IR laser and I thought it would be a very fun little challenge, and unique to boot!

The key is a good illuminator paired with a IR laser, it really helps you dial in the dot without washing out the target. Also a larger target (4" at 50 yards) doesn't hurt! I'll take some video one of these times to post, it's pretty cool! |

Don't forget to add my latest target Same gun right? Only the best goes up unless you use a different gun in the same division. Your last average was like 0.965", you set a high standard for yourself |

We did this last year in ARF SPESHUL GROUP we all averaged over 12 MOA or around 3 -3 .5 inches at 25 yards Some of us had some good groups but we all had some real dogs that opened it up.]
ETA it was standing unsupported with 22 lrs |
|
I'm in. Will try this with my Bushmaster Varminter and Marlin Mod 60. Both have done sub MOA groups in the past. Should be fun!

Here's my entry... for now... I'll be back...

Here's mine. Rifle is a Rem 700 Police in .308. Scope is a Bushnell Elite 4200 6-32x40. Ammo was handloads, 175gr SMK BTHP on top of 41.0 grains of H4895, Lapua brass. First time shooting this load in this rifle. Groups were shot from prone with a bipod at 100 yards. http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff35/kemays/rifle-1_zps43973325.jpg http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff35/kemays/target-1_zps18f17782.jpg http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff35/kemays/target-2_zps6514bea5.jpg Group sizes were written on target after subtracting .308 1.314 1.292 1.437 1.127 0.792 Average: 1.19", 1.19 MOA I haven't touched this rifle, except to move it around in the safe, for the past 5 years. I called just about every shot on the paper. I have no doubt that if this gun were in a vise, it would punch group after group with all rounds touching. This was the second target I shot. The first was a sighting target to make sure my scope was dialed in. Nice setup, looks like mine, using an older 24" bbl with Burris 6x18 peep plex. |

I tried today with a Remington 700 in .223 topped with a Leopold MK4. It's my first "precision" rifle so I wasn't excepting much. I used my handloads(just got into that thanks to DoubleAron). My groups averaged maybe 1.75 in(this shooting shit is hard). First time out, I'll get it soon I hope. Cool thread OP.

Nice shooting. However I think you would need to round that last digit up, if I remember my math correctly. Either way, you did better than I have done.

This time, I had the appropriate target. http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y444/AR-180/Challenge2002_zpsaf6126e5.jpg My rifle currently has two pieces of foam somewhat duck taped to it. But, it shoots like a house on fire. The groups measure: 0.892 0.785 0.688 0.656 0.372 That's an average of 0.6786. Bravo!!!!! |

Quoted: No shooting jackets in prone but you can use a sandbag because you want people to be in complete control of the rifle. Doesn't make any sense what so ever.Quoted: Quoted: ... NO SHOOTING JACKETS ... this has to be a typo, right? Nope, not everyone has a shooting jacket, this isn't Highpower the rules are setup to limit certain items to make for as level a field as possible. |

I will hopefully be able to attempt my go with it soon. Trying to get over a infected abscessed tooth, and then got to have it pulled. I did get my scope mounted up and fired a few rounds to dial it in. Cheek wield was a major problem with my face swelled up though. lol Swelling is pretty much gone now. I found about 30 rounds of my better ammo, with the same #41 primers and same powder charge. Gonna try and find enough for the test. It will be fun for sure.
Lot's of good shooting here so far. |
