“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground unperceived by your Father
. 30And even the hairs of your head are all counted. 31So do not be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows. 32 ‘Everyone therefore who acknowledges me before others, I also will acknowledge before my Father in heaven; 33but whoever denies me before others, I also will deny before my Father in heaven. 34 ‘Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; 36 and one’s foes will be members of one’s own household. 37Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; 38and whoever does not take up the cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39Those who find their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it. 40 ‘Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. 41Whoever welcomes a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward; and whoever welcomes a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive the reward of the righteous; 42and whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple—truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward"

according to the Pope

The Pope needs to search his heart and ask himself if he knows Christ
Based on his fruits - I’d say he doesn't

The reason most mainline Christian churches deny a literal 1000 year reign of Christ on earth is because they teach some version of Christ ruling symbolically through the church (our particular denomination - not the other guy of course).

The problem with teaching the church will rule the earth in the last days... Daniel 2 says a stone cut out without hands (Jesus) destroys the earth's empires when he returns. So rather than study scripture, study your catechism (sound familiar?).

Any scriptural study would show that Christ will return two more times.
Once where we meet him in the clouds, once where his feet touch the earth.
Once like a thief in the night (nobody knew until after it happened), another where every eye will see him.
Once where life is normal (people are eating, drinking, marrying), another where people are starving, suffering from plagues, and cursing God.

Excellent points and correct.  If someone has an open mind and is willing to do some study its not that complicated.

Negative brother.

The writings of the early church fathers all speak of a litteral pre-tribulation rapture, much like the entirety of the bible alludes to it, and IIRC it was not until after the third century when people began to allegorize it away from being literal.

@lurk-king   Thank you for posting that.  I rarely watch a video that long, but that was well worth it.

The a-millenial view was widely adopted in the 19th Century.  People had this idea that we (society in general) would make the world a better place until it we reached a utopia, whereupon we would have the millennial kingdom.  But after World War I, that idea began to wane in popularity as people began to understand the world was not getting better.  By the time we got through World War II, the resulting butchery and inhumanity had convinced most people the world was far from improving.  There is still a small following who refuse to give up, but a-millenialism has pretty much fallen by the wayside.

@agillig

I'm stoked to hear you watched it! His material is super fascinating and edifying.  I wish more people would check it out because it would clear up a lot of fallacies about this and other prophecies being modern interpretations.
