My wife and I switch off picking TV series to watch together. Nothing on TV interests me anymore, so I tried getting away with AvE.
After describing him as "the Australian guy that talks about his dick" she shut it down. So still being my turn I picked The Sopranos because I like mafia movies and I've never seen any of it before. So far it's good (we're around episode 7 of season 1). I like the AK Tonys wife keeps stashed for home invaders. The psychologist annoys me a lot for some reason. I am genuinely interested in learning more about the Mafia's decline. Did they really just start rolling over on each other? Tougher laws? |

Jersey here ! It's an awesome show. I just started it and I'm on season 4 right now.
The mob, It just kinda faded out. Watch Goodfellas, read Henry Hill's book. They are still there bit I guess but you don't hear the stories make the rounds anymore. On a side note, Satin Dolls aka the "Bada Bing" on rt. 17 got shut down a few months ago. The manager had ties to OC and was under investigation for RICO violations. Sign out front says "closed for remodeling" and "opening soon" |

I love the scene where they introduce his wife Carmella. You'll see.

One of the three best and shaped the TV movie landscape for the others, particularly The Wire. See also the shorter True Detective, first release.

I always felt that “The Sopranos “ was a show that was less than the sum of its parts.
Some good writing and fantastic acting, but waaayyy too many episodes where nothing happens. More than once, they’d say, “Stayed tuned for scenes from next week’s season finale...” and I’d think to myself, The season’s over? But nothing happened! I go back and watch episodes here and there, but I’d never sit and watch the entire run again. |

I binge watched while bed ridden.
Very well done series. The ending blows but everyone knows that already. |

Lot's of good mafia docs on youtube. Sammy the bull Gravano and John Gotti, along with RICO, killed the mafia. They're still around, but nothing like the good old days. I like the romanticized mafia idea too, but the reality was a lot more banal then the movies. Crime is always the suck.

I find myself playing on my phone during Tonys sessions. and "Don't Stop Believin'" is played throughout the final scene of the series. Journey's lead singer Steve Perry initially refused to let David Chase use the song until he knew the fate of the leading characters and did not give final approval until three days before the episode aired. Perry feared that the song would be remembered as the soundtrack to Tony's demise until Chase assured him that would not be the case.[16] Immediately following the airing of "Made in America," the song enjoyed a great surge of popularity; its sales on iTunes, for example, grew 482 percent.[17] The newly growing attention to the band helped it climb out of the reportedly difficult times it was having at the time.[18] |

The complete lack of continuity made me quit watching before I could get to the epic ending.

Ugh, and Tonys mom. I can't believe I forgot about her. If I ever get that unbearable I hope my kids just put me out of my misery.

Now I feel like binge watching the whole thing. Great series.
Occasionally I go to youtube and watch that video of all the times they said *Ohh!* I think it's called The Sopran-OHs or something like that. Plus, I'm a big fan of Adriana/Drea de Matteo. Attached File |

It peaks in Season 4. After watching it air on HBO for 6 seasons, I bought seasons 1 - 5. Season 6 isn't worth watching twice. They should have wrapped it up in Season 5.

'the night of' was also a good short series. |
