Why do I want an A2 fixed stock with a dissipator upper?

Retro is popular for nostalgic reasons, but it’s also clone correct for military rifles from the 50s all the way through the 90s. Entry stocks were made because telescoping carbine stocks were illegal during the assault weapon ban, and for no other reason. The military never used them. I think some police departments might have, but Only because of idiotic gun control legislation.  I’m sure there are some people who prefer the look of them, but to me that will always be an assault weapon ban compliant stock, just like a thumbhole stock.

That being said, I’ve got a bunch of M-16A1 type E stocks that are apparently worth a lot of money. Maybe I should sell this old stuff off instead of letting a pile up in totes?

Ban era thumbholes will never be popular in the sense of retro-collectability. The fixed RRA entry stocks, Colt CS stocks, and others are gaining popularity due to the popularity of retro stuff drawn on by nostalgia. Look at the popularity now of fixed carry-handled uppers. I recall when no one wanted them.

shorter stocks work better with body armor.

We should bring back mini y comps, especially the knock off one they put on the imported pre-2004 cetme. Nothing like hog hunting with a few dudes who unleash half a mag each at a couple pigs and then no one can hear for oh, 2 or 3 days.

Hey @Aimless, if you ever want to get rid of a Sully, I'll take it. I'd like to build a retro dissy like this with one.

https://th.bing.com/th/id/R.f9508024a3d021a0c2af9d0972aa9150?rik=J1poGeTDwRS7%2bw&riu=http%3a%2f%2fi1138.photobucket.com%2falbums%2fn540%2fdirt28%2fIMG_3623_zpsdnlyc1ap.jpg&ehk=UX3OwQxCnFCE5vxJXheIQJ%2bvx7ZVCETtKqW91BJj2M8%3d&risl=&pid=ImgRaw&r=0

Hell, I'll buy the other one.  I love the looks of the Sully stock

I own a fair amount of old gun junk, but I’ve never owned a rifle with a fixed stock.

Well, except for a ban-era Bushmaster with fixed M4 stock and mini-y comp.

The brake Armalite used on the old ban-era AR-10s was also an ear-destroyer.

I've had a Sully stock on my carbine for a long time now.  Length is about perfect for all but gorillas.  Can also beat a mfer with it, think it's urethane?

And tiny people. I tried an A1 length stock on my dissipator, couldn't even shoulder that thing. Way too short.

I’m definitely a fan. I need to take pictures of my A4 still, but here are a couple of mine. I also built a 16” mid length with an A1 stock and ACOG as a DMR type rifle and it’s one of my favorites.

I've got one of the entry stocks in a box somewhere.  Was recently thinking about a dissapator build, but with the old triangular handguards.

My love of sight radius conflicts with my love of bayonets. Thus dissy builds are will never be as likable as 20" rifles to me.
