That's true - the war was about States rights.

Only, 90% of those States rights had pretty much everything to do with slavery.

Slavery started that war - whether or not people fought for or against it is a different matter - slavery is what sparked it.

Yeah.

But how do we force the urban cities to become self supporting city-states like in ancient Greece?

The only thing that sounds familiar is this stupid argument over what the civil war was about that we have approximately 5 times a week in GD, in a thread about SEI's piss-poor nazi marketing.

Only on arfcom.

Yeah, but we should have issued personal miniguns to soldiers instead of M9 sidearms.  At least we would have an amusing reason for the lack of ammo  Who would need precision fire if every soldier was carrying a Hollywood style mini minigun

As far as adopting the symbols of the conquered foe goes, VF-111 Sundowners was actually there doing the conquering.  By the way, note the SunDOWNer, not rising.  Theirs is a play on the Japanese Naval Ensign, and after shooting down a lot of Japanese planes.

Mr Smith was where during the European campaign?  Was he even born?  Smith Industries was founded when?  1973.  They had no hand in the defeat, so they have no institutional right to adopt the symbol; so that just makes them simple jerks for doing so.

Everyday garden variety jerks.

That they fail to offend so many of you is commendable, since they're clearly attempting to be offensive to garner some shock publicity.

This doesn't rise to the level of offense for me, but it's stupid and don't think I want to reward stupid with my dollars.  It makes you wonder with the lawsuit and this if they wondered what it would take to cancel the goodwill they garnered with their steep discount for active duty troops ordering their flash-hiders.

Shooting women and children, poorly so they suffered horrible deaths I might add, is what that logo means to most people.  Hell before there were some old folks who would break a persons teeth with an ash tray over wearing that.

happy to post photographic evidence of a grown man executing a child if needed..  its poor form to use, worse not to change it once they were notified.

Hey, welcome to 10 pages ago and all the other people that apparently can't tell the difference between a bunch of generic skull & bones images that have a very broad association with all kinds of things, and a very specific version that has an association exclusively with the SS.

Nobody is saying that "a skull logo" is problematic.  People are saying that using the specific skull logo that was used by SS units, and the extremely negative connotation that is associated with that, is problematic.

Kinda like "hope and change" and the logo, people could use them for something else later but their original intent is pretty much burned in now.
