Finally I am getting around to swapping my front brake line out to the propped length instead of the cobbled one I have had on the DR. It did its job but I had to route it in a bad way.

Figured out how to have the Inreach ping my location every ten minutes so the wife can track me when I'm out on the fire roads by myself.

What I didn't know was that it costs a dime each time it pings.

I also remembered at 5am this morning that I forgot to turn it off after my ride yesterday, so it had been pinging my location at home for about 14 hours...at a dime every ten minutes.

What a dumbass

They have monthly subscriptions that will ping constantly and it’s one fee, including text. I don’t know if that’ll work out better for you in the long run or not probably not, but it’s worth look at.

Yeah, I don't use it enough to justify the extra cost over the plan I have now.

Does anyone have the Zoleo?  The plan options look like they're a bit more cost effective than the Inreach, especially where plan suspension and reactivation are concerned.

What PSI you guys running in your tires?

I'm confused, Triumph wants 36 front and 42 rear, but my tires say 31 max front, and 35 max rear.

H'ep!

What do I do?

My Scram 411 says 27 front, 34 rear. Dealer says to drop about five pounds each when I take it off road.

Triumph doesn't know what tires will be on the bike by the time it reaches you.  ( If New )

If they are 'aftermarket', go by what's on the tire.

On my Africa Twin I run 28-30 psi (cold) on the front and 32-36 psi (cold) on the rear.  Higher psi for higher cargo loads,  lower psi riding with just me or when more rain/snow/dirt expected. Tires are Dunlop Trailmax Missions.

Run the recommended pressures in the owners manual. I don’t air down most of the time.

The truth is when you have enough experience you will know when to air down but until then when it comes to heavy bikes just stay towards the top of the range.

My dealer (Gearhead Junction in Pembroke, VA) is offering bikes at great prices right now. If I hadn't just bought mine back in February, I'd definitely be paying them a visit right now.

Tickets for the 2024 Barber Vintage Festival are on sale.  I had a great time last year and am considering going back again for a couple of nights this year.  Anyone interested?

Friday October 11 through Sunday the 13th.
I'm starting a 5-day ride (SM500) on Monday the 14th, so if I go I'll probably bail out late Saturday or first thing Sunday.

Did you see any unique wildlife while you were out riding?  I think that adds another layer of satisfaction stumbling on wildlife that is so different from home.

It truly is pretty country.

I saw a mountain lion and a ton of mule deer. I was a bit disappointed I didn’t see any grizzly bears.

I am considering the Husky Norden 901 Expedition. I had thought about the Ducati DesertX, but apparently there is something strange about the chain on it that make it wear faster.

Once I get something, it will be the Trans America Trail.

Saw a black bear, and some elk, deer, turkeys on Saturday. The riding quality here is great, but the season is only 4 months long.

Changed a set of tires this past weekend on my GSA with the Rabaconda. Took me about 15 minutes per tire being the first time to use this rig.

I like it. Much easier than my home made car rim with all thread mounted to a 30 gallon drum that I used in the past.

Pic from last year...  One of my current 4 (excluding Honda Ruckus x2) that is probably the most "ADV" bike in the stable.  At some point in the next month, I need to install a few new tires & tubes, put a few miles on it then change some oils, then more miles.

Too many things with motors but I don't want to sell anything.  This was 2023 spring bike battery install, tire inflation and oil change day:

Nope, he loved that bike, but it was too slow. We rode home Globe and he struggled on the big hills, and when he rode it too Payson it really struggled. He could do off road way better on the T7 than I could on my 1090.

I am amazed to hear this. Any bike capable of easily going 100 plus miles an hour should not have any concerns about power. Hell, the top speed is 117 and you know that is governed. It has 70 horsepower.

Another guy in our Facebook group just traded in his T7 on an 890, as well.

Once you leave the valley, it's nothing but climbing if you're headed north. Steep, sustained climbs. Don't forget our speed limit is 75 on most of our roads. 70 horsepower just isn't enough!!

If you say so. I just crossed the country last year including the Rockies with less than 40hp. Any bike that is sub 500 pounds should easily accelerate on hills with 70hp.

Hell, when I look at the power I actually use on my GSA it is only about 60 for normal RpM range. Despite its saying 125 on paper you have to have it revved out to a degree that no one rides at.

It sounds like you're trying to make a medium sized ADV bike that leans heavy on the off-road capabilities fill the role of a sport tourer.

done those runs and I can see it both ways, sure.  I thought a T7 would be the one do-it all bike, have enough hp out on the road but still be light enough to do single track.

That recall was 2016 and prior.  Mine is a 2017 and tow up to shift up.  When they first came out they were tow down to shift up

Mine and current models are N on the bottom, which while similar to semi auto ATV every other manual bike I have is the normal 1 on the bottom... N between 1 & 2 so I always find myself trying to shift down from N to find 1 when I first hop on it for a ride.

ah i see.  yeah i have a chinese pit bike like that too.  i'm okay with N on the bottom for a relatively low performance machine.  if you downshift too far and just start coasting then it's not as big a deal than if you're on something more peppy and riding at 10/10ths.

Started a moto trip from the Mexico border to Canada yesterday that will last until next weekend, Lord willing. So far.... border fence> Ruidosa> Taos for lunch> Denver tonight.

Going to spend a chunk ilof time near Mount Rushmore, Crazy horse etc to ride the roads and see sights, run to the border for a night then back to SD to cloverleaf the area, then Denver for a few days, then Ruidosa, and finally home.

Don't know about a real biker, but I'll take it.

Yesterday's ride went great, perfect weather and low traffic.  Stayed in Black Hawk, CO and randomly won my first jackpot ever.  Basically paid for the entire trip, tires, and a new chain + sprockets when I get back.

Today I'll be heading to the Black Hills in South Dakota.

What PSI you guys running in your tires?

I'm confused, Triumph wants 36 front and 42 rear, but my tires say 31 max front, and 35 max rear.

H'ep!

What do I do?

I've always run the 36 and 42.  BMW GS's and now my Super Tenere.
