Quoted: Something’s fucky. View Quote Was a rigger at the CA ARNG QM unit in Santa Barbara that was sporting a Pathfinder badge until someone looked over his records and found out he wasn’t authorized. At my unit I noticed only SSG King and SSG Houlihan wore bolo badges, everyone else just had tabs unless wearing class A or dress blues |

I don’t thing USMC Major Pierre Ortiz even had an “MOS,” but whatever he was, was it.

Quoted: I went as an E5. I'm pretty sure you were an RI then (2011). My Guard unit used to be stingy with slots. It took me a couple years even though I had a couple deployments and 300 APFT. We finally got a tabbed CSM who made it a priority to send anyone who was halfway squared away and a PT stud. By then folks were pretty burned out from deployments it was hard to find kids to make that commitment. After the deployments died down we seemed to get a lot more interest. View Quote |

Oh my sweet summer child. The Air Force (and its side kick the Navy) can single handedly cause a worldwide nuclear apocalypse without any support, all while the infantry is still getting the order to deploy. So...no. Not even a little bit

Quoted: I saw a ARNG CSM forget the unit, recently no short or long tab, who's only badge was Pathfinder, no CAB, no CIB nada just Pathfinder - how the hell? View Quote Another funny story, so I get a call from the school guy, he said if you can get to FT Campbell tonite you got a Pathfinder slot. I drove to base, get my Papers and head to Campbell. Second week of school they ask were are your AA wings? I said I have never been to AA school. He said, well it's a Campbell school requirement, fuck you made it this far so you can stay. Maybe the CSM just lucked out one day, right place right time. If you can consume and remember info quickly, Pathfinder isn't bad. Thing is I suck at both. My problem was drinking in Nashville when I should have been studying. I made it though, so how hard can it be? 26 of 43 passed. |

OP strikes me as just the type to think "would of" instead of "would have" and that someone being a leg or not has anything to do with the Infantry MOS.
Ironically, we once had airborne infantry assigned in support of our Cavalry formations, they did an OK job as far as support troops go, once we were able to get them vehicles so they weren't all but worthless. |

Does that mean that all the blame for the recent failures in Iraq and Afghanistan lies squarely on the infantry?

They do a lot more than just call for fire especially during the planning process and coordinating fires. Calling for fire is an additional skill for all combat arms mos and everyone needs to maintain that skill but the speed in which you can locate enemy, call and adjust fire with a drone is way more efficient. Edit. It’s a game of technologies. Just like bullets and armor. Drones and anti drone is a race. |
