I wouldn't call the Daytonas and Superbirds beautiful, but they are cool for sure.

Wow, inflation sure is taking it's toll on the used car market.

I remember when I was a kid in the 80s there was a guy next door who daily drove a superbird to work.
Another guy down on the main drag in the next town must have liked them because he always had one or two in his driveway that he would clean up and sell. I was never a big fan of Chrysler products. I like GM muscle cars but the Mopars had some cool stuff. |

That car does nothing for me....
Now, a '69-'71 Mustang, that is where it is at |

Neighbor had one growing up, he raced back in the day and owned a semi truck dealership service center.
Forest green with white lettering and stripes. Got to sit in it a few times and act like I was king of the track. RIP Mel |

Back in the day, an associate had a yellow Pantera. That was a sharp looking car. IIRC, he spent more time wrenching on it than driving it.

I remember a '90s issue of Hotrod magazine that featured a restomodded one. It was sick, but I'm sure there are collectors today that would cry if they saw it. Eta: Found it! Holy shit we were in a monochromatic hell in the '90s, lol. I remember thinking this was my dream car and hanging the pic up... Defunct sale link |

Buddy of mine has a Superbird. His is a 440 w/ six pack. If I remember correctly, the paint color is called lime light green. Ugliest damn car I've ever seen, but there's no telling what it's worth.

I know it's desirable, but IMO, that car has never been attractive.

Quoted: The wedge on the front looks like an afterthought. Would look better without it. View Quote It actually was. The wedge nose and the wing on the back is the result of someone at Dodge talking to an actual aerodynamic specialist. Dodge was having trouble winning races in NASCAR at the time. So someone at Dodge talked to an aerodynamic specialist and he said to put a wedge shape on the front and big wing on the back. He drew it up on a piece of paper, basically over-exaggerating them. But the drawing is what made it onto the actual car. And it worked. Dodge started winning lots of races. And the car was so fast and so dominating that it was basically outlawed for use in NASCAR. Watched a video not too long about it. It was kind of interesting. I wish I could find it (tried looking through my Youtube history but I can't seem to track it down). |

I can remember when they sat on dealer's lots unsold because they were butt ugly back in the day. I knew a fellow who bought one because it was discounted heavily. He drove it until it rotted apart.
They're way cool now. But they are not exactly beautiful by any standard I could apply. |
