So odd questions as I don't twitter but... Do you know this man personally? Do you know if he is really a doctor? Or pathologist? Are you taking the post at face value because the title of his account? Can I create a twitter account with Dr in my name? I'm a meteorologist by trade. Can I post that global warming is gonna kill us all like 10 years ago? Or maybe in 50? I guess most important question: Why do you believe that to be genuine? The entire thread that doctor posted
Even if the R0 level is lower (some people are saying 2.2, 2.5, 2.8), it's still pretty damn scary. Let’s pretend the 3.8 estimate is too high (there’s unpublished estimates of 2.5). even if this virus’s R0=2.5, that’s still 2x higher than seasonal flu’s 1.28 (ref above), and higher than 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic of 1.80 that killed millions. So 2.8 is still super bad folks View Quote |

@EXPY37 I am planning a big shopping day tomorrow. Main focus is stuff to sustain us for 3 months. I have a ton of food but lack in other areas.
So far the list is Toilet paper Garbage bags Feminine hygiene stuff Dog food Bleach Bleach wipes Alcohol (sanitary kind, already WELL prepared with the other sort) Dawn Tide Spray bottles A few bags of rice. (Cheap and easy to make) The idea is that if I need to, I can walk away from my job and stay home for a period of 2-5 months with limited excursion outside. I figure that a mask, goggles, tyvek suit, etc will be worn during excursions with a decon when I return. My house is already locked down with no visitors and the wife unit will not be taking the kids anywhere. We are planning for the worst. |

There are reports this evening of a young man IIRC who has evidence of this virus in his lungs via CTS [I guess] and has no external symptoms.
Asymptomatic carrier. Part of a cluster IIRC. Cause for a LOT of concern. |

Voice message from a medical staff in Wuhan: "Indeed, the infection is much more horrible than it's reported on TV. There are so many cases. Doctors have estimated about 100,000 infected. We have more than 10 doctors here, and each doctor has treated more than 100 infected people in just one day. Many of them will not make it. No hospital beds. Their relatives complained and insisted on being treated in our hospital as they quoted the government's promise the hospital should treated those infected with the coronavirus. However, the government didn't support us with medical supplies. We don't have enough resources to hospitalize patients. It won't work if the situation worsens like this. We've been slammed all day long and we are all breaking down. We cannot take it anymore. The patients were begging us desperately, but we couldn't do anything. They are dying right in front of our eyes. Therefore, please take every measure to protect yourselves at home. Don't EVER trust the government. We are on our own now." |
