I'm just paying attention to what this thing looks like when it hits a western advanced modern medical system.

That’s the hope right, it hits modern western medicine and gets run through a buzz saw and turns into nothing here. That’s probably the best case scenario. View Quote As expected, a strong immune system is likely critical. Eat your spinach boys and girls. |

I'm guessing PRC is pressuring them behind the scenes to both praise PRC and not to declare the emergency. View Quote 1. Calm people down - Don't panic things are under control. We're working with china and are managing it but its really all the international community's responsibility to work with us! 2. Give as little information as possible 3. Don't piss off China - Chinese are in control and they could quickly stop cooperating with the WHO. Also, they are very conservative people and now they have a lot of money and influence so, another reason not to piss them off. |

A doctor at a Wuhan hospital tells BBC News of her alarm at the spread of the outbreak. We have chosen to protect the doctor's identity.
It's my first epidemic. The first time we heard about coronavirus was 31 December, when there were a few cases. But in the last two weeks, there has been an alarming rate of spread. I am scared because this is a new virus and the figures are alarming. The hospitals have been flooding with patients, there are thousands, I haven't seen so many before. They have to wait for hours before they see a doctor - you can imagine their panic. It's a new virus, so there isn't much information. The incubation period is usually seven days, with two to three days the minimum period and 10 to 12 days the maximum. It is spread through human-to-human transmission and there are also medical-staff infections. The virus may mutate, so there is further risk of spread. BBC |

So how much of this is standard hype train over standard chinese procedure? Or is it really habbening now? they now have seven cities quarantined over 20 million people looks to me like it's happening Dr Guan Yi, director of the State Key Laboratory of Emerging Infectious Diseases at the University of Hong Kong, confessed to Chinese media that the situation in Wuhan - where the virus originated - was already 'uncontrollable'. He also claimed that the Chinese authorities missed the 'golden period' to control the virus and prevent it from spreading. 'I have experienced so much and never felt scared. Most [viruses] are controllable, but this time I am scared,' Dr Guan told the press, predicting the worst is yet to come. Link ETA: In an interview with Chinese news outlet Caixin, Dr Guan feared that 'much more' people from Wuhan had been infected by the new virus than the total number of SARS cases, and many of them had already left Wuhan because of the Chinese New Year. He doubted the effect of putting Wuhan under lockdown right now, claiming that the sources of infection had 'spread out completely'. |
