That’s the hope right, it hits modern western medicine and gets run through a buzz saw and turns into nothing here. That’s probably the best case scenario.

Just read that two patients in Singapore that came from Wuhan are now recovering.  Their fevers are breaking and they can eat again.  Father and son duo, father is 66 years old.

As expected, a strong immune system is likely critical.  Eat your spinach boys and girls.

Yea it's really clear they are fellating PRC. I'm guessing PRC is pressuring them behind the scenes to both praise PRC and not to declare the emergency.

That's absolutely correct.  Their objective was three folds,

1. Calm people down - Don't panic things are under control. We're working with china and are managing it but its really all the international community's responsibility to work with us!
2. Give as little information as possible
3. Don't piss off China - Chinese are in control and they could quickly stop cooperating with the WHO.  Also, they are very conservative people and now they have a lot of money and influence so, another reason not to piss them off.

Can we just call this the Wuhan Flu or would that be too simple?

N95 masks are still in stock at your local Home Depot. If you get the big box it runs around $.90 per mask.

There were 14 medical professionals that got infected at a hospital a few days ago --> They were taking at least minimal precautions (mask (N95 or 100), gloves, gown) --> N95/100 Masks, gloves, gown isn't enough!

We don't know if they were wearing goggles!

A doctor at a Wuhan hospital tells BBC News of her alarm at the spread of the outbreak. We have chosen to protect the doctor's identity.

It's my first epidemic. The first time we heard about coronavirus was 31 December, when there were a few cases.

But in the last two weeks, there has been an alarming rate of spread. I am scared because this is a new virus and the figures are alarming.

The hospitals have been flooding with patients, there are thousands, I haven't seen so many before.

They have to wait for hours before they see a doctor - you can imagine their panic.

It's a new virus, so there isn't much information.

The incubation period is usually seven days, with two to three days the minimum period and 10 to 12 days the maximum.

It is spread through human-to-human transmission and there are also medical-staff infections.

The virus may mutate, so there is further risk of spread.

Yes... you get criteria based on symptoms and travel/contact history and you say "could be." Patient Under Investigation. Then you stick them in isolation and everyone gets their dander up.

Then you do cultures and PCRs which will tell you is this nCoV2019 or is it influenza or is it something else (RSV, bacterial, etc)? The results come back a day later or so leaving time for the media to froth.

I'd say my concerns come down to a.) rate of growth of confirmed cases / deaths and b.) any secondary transmission in other nations.

A week is probably appropriate due to the likely incubation period.

Coronaviridae are a family of viruses which 2019-nCoV-Wuhan is one type.  SARS and MERS were also types of this virus.  That there's research into coronavirus vaccines and even patents of such is not surprising or indication of conspiracy.

A passenger on a flight to Los Angeles International Airport from Mexico City has been hospitalized and quarantined after showing 'disturbing' symptoms consistent with China's deadly coronavirus, health officials announced Thursday.

The passenger, who has not been identified, arrived at LAX on American Airlines flight 2546 on Wednesday evening and was met by Los Angeles firefighters and police.

Officials conducted a 'deep contamination process' after transporting the patient to a local hospital.

A leading virologist who helped tackle the SARS epidemic in Asia in 2003 has warned that a new strain of deadly coronavirus from China could lead to an outbreak at least 10 times worse than the health crisis 17 years ago.

Dr Guan Yi, director of the State Key Laboratory of Emerging Infectious Diseases at the University of Hong Kong, confessed to Chinese media that the situation in Wuhan - where the virus originated - was already 'uncontrollable'.

He also claimed that the Chinese authorities missed the 'golden period' to control the virus and prevent it from spreading.

'I have experienced so much and never felt scared. Most [viruses] are controllable, but this time I am scared,' Dr Guan told the press, predicting the worst is yet to come.

Link

ETA:

In an interview with Chinese news outlet Caixin, Dr Guan feared that 'much more' people from Wuhan had been infected by the new virus than the total number of SARS cases, and many of them had already left Wuhan because of the Chinese New Year.

He doubted the effect of putting Wuhan under lockdown right now, claiming that the sources of infection had 'spread out completely'.

Yeah It appears they’re not being completely honest in how bad this really is. I wouldn’t judge it on the number of infected being reported as much as I would the growing quarantine zones.
And what do they know about the mortality rate that they’re not sharing?

That's pretty much where I'm at. Based on the official numbers, if you compare this to the flu this is nothing. However, the quarantine response is severely disproportionate to the numbers. Something and some things aren't adding up.

That’s what I was saying yesterday. They are downplaying the severity and hiding the real numbers. In my mind it  means they tried to hide what may amount to a global pandemic, keeping other nations from locking down international travel and essentially guaranteeing the virus is successful. Those communist motherfuckers.

The Chinese government will NEVER release any accurate numbers of infected or deaths from this.
We’re not going to have any idea how contagious or deadly this is until there’s widespread cases here.

But someone handled them raw to cook them. Then didn’t wash their  hands, thus contaminating bowls and utensils.

I've read that they ran out of PCR test so they can't definitively confirm so that's one possible reason for the numbers topping out. I'm listening to a podcast with Dr. Niman and he stated that they've simply stopped testing which is the reason for the slowdown.

The (2nd) bolded part is not good. It means the infected can travel far and wide, spreading it.

That's one of the reasons Ebola doesn't spread that far. It acts too quickly.
