Poor people the world over are gonna die, people with access to modern healthcare not so much. View Quote The H3N2 epidemic 2 seasons ago, filled up many facilities in the Southern states, to the point that they had to redirect them to more rural facilities that hadn't yet been filled to/past capacity. |

Home Depot in our area still has (well not our store anymore) 3m 8210 masks. They are branded as drywall dust masks, exact same as normal 8210. About a buck a piece for the masks in boxes of 20. Bought the remaining six boxes. I’m going to put them on the shelf with my .22lr bricks.
And where the hell is @thebeerslayer he always shows up in these threads. |

Absolutely no way China responds this way unless the numbers are dramatically worse than they are reporting. |

The Wuhan coronavirus does not yet constitute a public health emergency of international concern, according to an emergency committee convened by the World Health Organization.
So the WHO has an emergency committee telling us the is no health emergency yet? Check |

Quoted: A leading virologist who helped tackle the SARS epidemic in Asia in 2003 has warned that a new strain of deadly coronavirus from China could lead to an outbreak at least 10 times worse than the health crisis 17 years ago. Dr Guan Yi, director of the State Key Laboratory of Emerging Infectious Diseases at the University of Hong Kong, confessed to Chinese media that the situation in Wuhan - where the virus originated - was already 'uncontrollable'. He also claimed that the Chinese authorities missed the 'golden period' to control the virus and prevent it from spreading. 'I have experienced so much and never felt scared. Most [viruses] are controllable, but this time I am scared,' Dr Guan told the press, predicting the worst is yet to come. Link ETA: In an interview with Chinese news outlet Caixin, Dr Guan feared that 'much more' people from Wuhan had been infected by the new virus than the total number of SARS cases, and many of them had already left Wuhan because of the Chinese New Year. He doubted the effect of putting Wuhan under lockdown right now, claiming that the sources of infection had 'spread out completely'. View Quote Lockdowns are mostly show but will certainly slow the progression of infection externally, giving more time to analyze and prepare. Watch the progression in the US and other western countries and things become more meaningful. |

Quoted: That's something I've been thinking about this morning. It's been almost 24 hours since they've updated the mort numbers? Gives me a bad feeling. Also worth considering is what happens once the healthcare system is overwhelmed and the critical care cases can no longer be adequately supported? View Quote |

That’s what I was saying yesterday. They are downplaying the severity and hiding the real numbers. In my mind it means they tried to hide what may amount to a global pandemic, keeping other nations from locking down international travel and essentially guaranteeing the virus is successful.
