If ever there was a beard it's her, and that other chick he jumped on Fat Opera's couch over.

Aaron Rodgers picks terrible beards as well.

Was it really original?  I thought the "twist" was fairly cliche and I saw it coming from a mile away, which certainly affected my enjoyment of the film.

I like some of his films but every time I have seen him talk about something he seemed like a total moron or he is high as a kite.  I don't care what religion he believes in.  That is his business.

You do have to hand it to him in the action movie category.  He could have taken the easy road and did chick flicks for the rest of his career but chose the action-packed blockbuster route instead.

Not many actors would even have that choice.

There's a ton of actors today that...hate to admit it...are damned fine actors, but their screwball, loud, politics absolutely suck.  I'm sure Cruise has his political leanings, but I truly respect that he's not plastered all over TV and news everyday spouting off about it.

the best thing about A Few Good Men is that most of the court-martial procedural stuff was correct, and (other than Tom Cruise explaining his theory of the case to the jury in the middle of his cross-exam of Jessup) the witness questioning was damn good.  I used certain portions of it to teach trial advocacy to law students.

Same here. I like most of his movies, but never got into MI. I think maybe there is just a reality threshold where a movie crosses the line between entertaining and ridiculous, and they exceed it.

Anyone who can appear that batshit crazy in real life, but perfectly sane in character, and nail the role, is a badass actor. So many good movies, done so well.

You are making a BIG assumption there.

Yeah, he was married to her.  But the children with her were ADOPTED.

Nicole's current marriage has produced biological children.

That said, he is good in "action" films, but I think his range is limited to that genre.

I agree, the tripods were amazing. As far as the rest, I wish Dakota Fanning's character was consumed by the aliens early in the movie and that the smart-mouthed son was one of the first people to be disintegrated.

I'm a big fan of early sci-fi and the 50's WotW was one of my favorites, so I appreciated the cameo by the grandparents at the end.

Decent actor but why the hell he has not distanced himself from the shit that is Scientology absolutely baffles my mind.

There are horrific things that Scientology has done to people, be it there own members or people who speak out against them.

Leah Remini strikes me as one of the few folks genuinely upset and has a sour grapes moment over being duped by that cult.

So many folks who are out of it just seem to shrug their shoulders and look at it as an individual responsibility fuck up.   Like "fooled me" ohwell.

I am downright shocked that pissed off family members havent gone on off Falling Down/Kill Dozer style on a Scientology facility.

And Tom not distancing himself from the cult reflects badly on him.

Yeah, A LOT more than I though I was going to.

It's one of my "If I tune to a channel it's on, I have to stop and watch it" movies.

He's one of those guys I should hate but I can't...  Too many excellent movies.

I worked with a guy who was in the Navy during the filming of Top Gun and was a crew member of the actual helicopter involved in the rescue scene in the movie.  He wasn't in the movie but the crew chief was.  Supposedly Cruise almost drowned during the filming of the rescue scene but was rescued by the crew chief.  My friend was prone to exaggeration though...

He seems to be a dedicated, highly motivated and driven individual. The type that would be immensely successful in whatever field he pursues.  He is one of the truly enviable in that he uses his wealth to maximize his potential as a human being.  Learning new skills like gun fighting, martial arts, learning new languages, music lessons, physical fitness, piloting aircraft, racing, etc.  He's not just using his wealth to live a life of sloth and decadence. And in that, he is enviable.  I don't agree with his political or religious beliefs, however, but nobody's perfect.
