I’ve been thinking about the plot, specifically the F-14A at the end. I’m guessing Goose’s son gets shot down over enemy territory, Maverick disobeys orders to get the son out and the only escape from behind the lines is to steal an F-14A and dogfight out. Maverick and almost-Goose ride again.

Wonder if there’ll be a flat spin sequence, Maverick flashes back briefly to Goose’s death before recovering the jet. The jet is damaged and has to be trapped on a carrier with the crash barrier seen in stills. ETA or because it was a foreign jet it was never equipped with carrier arresting gear.

You duped a YouTube video that was already in the thread? Impressive.

Somebody probably already posted this but I bet Mav and Goose's son get shot down in enemy territory and steal an F-14 to escape.

Seems like an unnecessary and convoluted way to get the F-14 back in the movie but whatever.

I'm going to be disappointed if Mav's backstory doesn't involve sky dicks.

Kelly McGillis, 62, says she is 'too old and fat' for Top Gun sequel with Tom Cruise: 'I look age-appropriate for what my age is, and that is not what that whole scene is about'

Kelly McGillis has been very upfront about why Hollywood is no longer courting her.

In an interview with ET  the 62-year-old actress - who diagnosed with alpha one antitrypsin disorder about five years ago - was unusually candid about why she was not asked to co-star with Tom Cruise in the Top Gun sequel titled Maverick.

'I'm old and I'm fat and I look age-appropriate for what my age is, and that is not what that whole scene is about,' said the star who played Charlie Blackwood, Maverick's instructor, in the 1986 hit film. 'But ... I'd much rather feel absolutely secure in my skin and who and what I am at my age as opposed to placing a value on all that other stuff.'

McGillis is five years older than Cruise, whose career momentum has kept going thanks mostly to the Mission: Impossible franchise.

But fame is behind Kelly, who moved to Pennsylvania in 2002.

And she told the site she is happy to see another actress take over. Cruise's love interest in the 2020 film is played by Hollywood vet Jennifer Connelly, best known for her Oscar-winning movie A Beautiful Mind.

Good, because there's been so many fakes trailers posted lately.

I heard they were trying to get an F14 flying again for this, I wonder if it happened.

Just borrow one from Iran. I'm sure the can cannibalize enough parts to fly one.

He was a LT in 1986, so he's got at least four years in, right? Figure a 1982 Commissioning. It's 2019, so a minimum of 37 years. Shouldn't he be wearing stars on his shoulder boards by now?

Not really. By now he'd been grounded and busted in rank enough times he might still be a Lt.

Unless Tom Cruze is in a scene with him jumping up and down on top of the Admiral's wife in their bed with Oprah doing an interview the movie will suck.

Commissioned officers don’t get to keep serving after a reduction in rank. If they do, it is an extremely rare case.  Reduction in rank would typically be done for felony level type offences.
