Quoted: This 40% discount deal is a cynical ploy to make a subgroup of people feel "special" and appreciated. So they are selling a product that is 300% overpriced, at a 40% discount. How is that a good deal? View Quote Trijicon always gave/gives a cynical 25% discount to all veterans. Because their souls are as dark as the tritium in the old ass ACOGs sold in the Amazon sales. |

Entitled got nothing to do with it. They can give the discount to everyone, or no one. I honestly don't gaf. Did you somehow miss the Amazon Christmas thread? They were handing out 90% discounts like candy. Can you guess why??? Concentrate, bear down, and THINK. I'm not gonna swear off Trijicon over it or anything, and I'm pretty sure when I'm in the market for another optic I'll give 'em a look again as I love the ones I have. But still, I have to admit it does, as I said, kinda rub me the wrong way a bit. Nothing wrong with saying so. I could see where an entitled person might be rubbed the wrong way by this. "Ah served in the Navy for 3 years in 1995, give me mah damn 10% on this $18 purchase!!!1!" All you need is the VA Medical card if you didn't make 20 Yup, You get 10% at Lowes also. I guess if we served before 2001, we don't deserve that ! |

I saw this thread title earlier and figured it would be run away ass hurt soon enough.
You should see the prices that Leupold offers to .mil and leo. GD, home of a bunch of people who love free enterprise until someone else's free choice upsets them. |

I have a feeling they will get some money from me.
I appreciate they are doing this. FWIW, I wouldn't find it insulting if they only did it for Vietnam era veterans, or only for Cold War era guys either. |

Perhaps, could the discount have something to do with recognition and appreciation of the fact that GWOT veterans are the people who used this optic in combat for the last 14 years, rather than a slight against previous generations of veterans?

How is that a good deal? It's actually a marketing ploy to get their product into a target demographic. Somehow "internet basement dweller" didn't meet Trijicon's criteria for a market share. With that said i'm headed to IHOP to get in the manager's face about not giving me senior pricing. Quoted:

welp. I'm biting.
My ACOG served me incredibly well in the desert. $400 off is too good to pass up do they still come with that cryptic Bible reference that looks like a serial number? |

I found this a little bit offensive as well. Trijicon can do whatever they want and I am not feeling entitled to anything. A pre 9/11 veteran wrote the same blank check to the government that the post 9/11 veteran did.

Don't hate because we kicked fundamentalist Islamic and secular Arab ass after 9/11. Did you Korean War, 'Nam, Grenada, Panama vets do this? Nope.... < pre gwot combat vet not a remf. I already have 3 acogs. What seems poorly thought out to me is, that it seems to relegate my service as somewhat less than others. I don't need an acog, it's just that the whole premise seems, petty. Good for you guys who got the deal.

Folks joined all the time post 2001 with no guarantee of a deployment. It was all a matter of luck. Was there a higher chance of being deployed? Sure, because we were rotating big army units through a couple different war zones for 13+ years. Makes them no different from dudes that joined in 82 and stared at the Fulda Gap, or in 79 and jumped into Grenada, or in 88 and drove tanks into Kuwait and Iraq. |

And people who never served whine because it categorizes their lack of service as lesser as well. Who cares? Its a promo marketing to a demographic, which just so happens to be modern veterans. Maybe Trijicons theory is that GWOT vets are more likely to still be serving...and as such pushing their products on the people who will be using them at work (and influencing them to be purchased for work). I dont get mad that I cant order from the seniors menu at denny's. |

https://www.trijicon.com/na_en/products/product3.php?pid=TA33-8 is that a good choice? the reticle seems good for close up and out to a few hundred meters View Quote the TA33 is probably the best ACOG a guy can buy for his AR. The other models might have more magnification or the extra 200 meters shown on the BDC to take you out to 800, but in terms of speed, light weight, eye relief and cost, the TA33 has them beat. I've had mine since around 2006. They only offered one reticle color at the time, these days I would go for the TA33-GH which has a green horse shoe. |
