the TA33 is probably the best ACOG a guy can buy for his AR. The other models might have more magnification or the extra 200 meters shown on the BDC to take you out to 800, but in terms of speed, light weight, eye relief and cost, the TA33 has them beat.

I've had mine since around 2006. They only offered one reticle color at the time, these days I would go for the TA33-GH which has a green horse shoe.

is that a good choice? the reticle seems good for close up and out to a few hundred meters

Here's the thing that we all need to take note of:    The popularity of all things blacktical is waning, and the panic is over.    Prices are crashing across the board.

Those of us that have been in this for a while, have seen black rifles become a mainstream fad, just like BeenyBabies, and it is crashing just as fast.

This is not a "Thank You" to WOT vets.   This is a desperate and cynical attempt by Trijicon to maintain their sales levels, without devaluing their product through massive across the board price capitulation.     We will see that later, with absolute certainty.   But first, they will shill these discounts to select "Special"  groups.

Ask yourslf this:    How over priced is this product, if they can afford to offer 40% off and still make a healthy profit?

HAHAHAHA!!!!!!  Exactly.  I don't begrudge the boys who served before 9/11 (I joined in 1998 and am still AD) but don't bitch because we get a certain discount that you don't get.  That's like the morons who were upset about the possible Silencerco Blue Label program.

Makes them no different from dudes that joined in 82 and stared at the Fulda Gap, or in 79 and jumped into Grenada, or in 88 and drove tanks into Kuwait and Iraq.

So you didn't "raise your right hand during a time of war".  Because according to some folks here, that makes you different.

I think so - I personally know individuals who were fine with being a professional Soldier, and then got out when it was time to do professional Soldier shit.

Maybe - but is that why we join? So people will say "thanks" and give us deals and free shit?

I have a grandpa who tried to join the Canadian AF to get into the fight pre-Pearl Harbor, then joined the Army Air Corps as a gunner on a B-17. He got pulled off every troop ship because his two brothers were respectively serving as a Navy Corpsman in the Pacific and as a Navigator in the 8th Air Force and was shot down multiple times over occupied France. My other grandpa was drafted to be an 11B during the Korean War - he had a buddy fudge orders to get him assigned as an 88M in an FA company in Germany. Guess which one I respect more.

Trijicon calculated that they could give a deal to certain segment of their customer base - instead of being happy that they are giving a deal to GWOT vets, pre GWOT vets are bitching and moaning like retired senior citizens bitching that they don't have a senior citizen or AARP discount at the local IHOP.

No one owes you or me shit - we put on the uniform for our own reasons. I'm glad people aren't spitting on me and calling me a baby killer. Any discount or free meal on Veteran's day is a bonus.

Funniest part is, this style of Marketing is so effective, these poor guys don't stand a chance.   They literally cannot help themselves.    I probably sold an extra 100 Acogs, just by highlighting the Exclusivity of this fabulous offer.

Don't care about the discount, wouldn't use it anyway. But if you GWOT vets think your service is more appreciable than earlier vets, you're fucked in the head. I was 18 in 1989, so that is when I joined. If I had been 18 in 2002, I would have joined then.

It's not why I joined and have stayed in.  I can't say the same about others in the thread.

Nobody that joined pre or post 2001 is any different from any other jackass that joins the military at any time.  Some people get to choose their assignments and some do not.  Some people jump up and down and fight to get somewhere and some prefer to let nature take its course and realize the deployment will come to them.  Then there are those that avoid risk, and the heck with them.

I qualify for the discount, but don't need the optics right now.  I'm happy they are offering the discount and really wouldn't care if I didn't qualify.  I also share the opinion that some have alluded to that Trij had to draw a line somewhere and they chose to make that discount available to those that were more likely to have used their stuff while deployed.

2+2 = 4 that is a fact as well. What is the point of the statement. I have pics of me in the gulf too. No acogs because they weren't issued.

eta: As I stated earlier if they were available then I would have used them.

This is how I see it. The GWOT was huge for them and they're trying to give back to service members that played a part in the war. It's nothing against other generations.

40% off their price is about the same as regular retail

Basically this...

Ehh...I'm not seeing it.

Point me in the right direction. (everything I see is around 14% off Trijicon's listed price)

optics planet
rmr rm02 - $499 + 10% off coupon = $450

pretty close to it and that was the first site I pulled up. I'm sure there are some more sites that are probably a little cheaper. I know SWFA will do 110% price match.

I'm looking at ACOGs (should have prefaced my question with that).

It is actually shitty of them offering a 40% discount on shit that is way more than 40% overpriced. They are screwing vets over.

Are they gonna beat my TA31H-G for $417.00 from Amazon?

As a civilian, if I got butt hurt every time I wasn't included in a discount/promo, I'd need a 55 gallon drum of Prep H. You guys are being fucking nancies.

Shit, I think I'll buy a TA33-GH at full retail, just because.

Ah, so the truth of the butthurt emerges.

Everyone wants free shit, and cant stand it when somebody else gets it and they dont.

Thanks for the lesson on social equality, as unapplicable as it is in capitalist marketing.

Aimpoint has military discounts, both from the manufacturer and tons of vendors.  If you plan on buying only things that dont offer the discount due to massive butthurt, your pickings will be pretty slim.

Heres are two Leupolds I got 40% off of due to a military discount.  About to order a MK6 at 40% off too this month.

Now that I think about it, I got all three uppers, the stocks, sights, and scope mounts with a military discount, the engraving was free because of it, and I got 15% off all those MRP barrels being converted too.

Heres the link to where you can get them too.

Sweet discounts

I served pre-9/11 and got out.

Then a few years later, I went back in and did a trip to Afghanistan.

By the logic of this thread I should hate myself.

No, no, no. You should be feeling sorry for yourself for being left out while you high five yourself for being included.
