I had an Asian roommate in college who used to come to every Halloween party as “Charlie”
 Over the four years I knew him he perfected his costume; black pajamas, Chinese sneakers, coolie and all. His family immigrated from Hong Kong in the 1950s. They came here with nothing, became Americans and built their own American Dream. |
