Nobody brought a fucking tape measure?
Don't people plan shit anymore? |
Somebody's insurance is panicking while they figure out how to deny this claim.
Dumbass driver and I’m driver so I can say that. This is what happens when you don’t plan your route.
Its leaking... ALOT.
Atleast they wrapped it before shipping! |

All that and a hazmat clean up too.
Time to look for another job. Even if he's O/O he's never going to get insurance to keep hauling. |
Pretty sure that is airwolf.
At least it's just the cheap spinny thing on top and not something critical. |

My uncle is a chopper tech and former sailor
The words that spewed out of him when I sent this to him were truly something to behold lol |

Police confirmed the load was too tall. View Quote Thankfully the investigators were able to solve the mystery. |
Seems like the kind of load that should have a pilot car ahead of it to make sure these things fit.

Was that chopper flyable when it was put on the truck? If I was a betting kinda guy I would bet on it never flying again.
Wikipedia says an s92 costs $32 million. |
That trucker will always have bragging rights when the “most expensive thing you’ve destroyed” topic is brought up.
That picture is a marvelous snapshot of our entire society at present. -Think of all the meticulous attention to detail, that went into building that thing. Destroyed in seconds, by a single thoughtless idiot. And most people will say “oh, no problem, that’s why we have insurance”. |

Quoted: Someone is losing their job today. View Quote I wonder, think it was the poor driver who didn't bother to pay attention to height or the failure of a spotter vehicle running ahead? These two things seem to be fairly simple steps to prevent such but my guess is the freight company charged to move this operated with "as cheap as possible" as a mindset. The cheapest driver, the lack of a spotting crew, etc, etc. |
Quoted: How can people really be this dumb? View Quote Thats where I am at It does take a little bit of common sense to drive a big rig and if he had his CDL, he must have some cognitive ability, how can you not know the height of your load and the height of the bridges you need to pass under. Does something like that automatically make you lose you CDL? |
S-92 most likely for offshore oilfield transport. Maybe PHI?
"We'll just put an OVERSIZE placard on it, and that'll take care of it."

Wow... some drivers are idiots.
There are apps that let you map our a route so this doesn't happen. |

30°27'17.9"N 90°57'23.4"W Looking at the streetview of that bridge, if you're coming from the opposite direction, there's a sign on the bridge that says "clearance 15'-0", but in the direction the truck was traveling, there's no sign. There IS a spot where the paint is different because there used to be a sign there. Whoops. |

Same thing happened in hubby's flight dept. They were purchasing a new Eurocopter in Tx. They were taking it to completion and went under an overpass that was too low. Destroyed it. Thankfully the flight dept. hadn't signed any paperwork or taken possession in any way.
Expensive fuck up. ETA can't read or type. |
