I mean if Trump wanted to guarantee a major win in 2020, he should push for legalization.  Thoughts?

I would advise to push for it to be up to the individual states (the defacto situation on the ground now). Everybody happy

President Trump could even leave it alone and win but the one thing that just might cost him the election however is a big anti weed push.

It sure would keep a lot of Democrats home on Election Day. I'm all for it.

It's a no brainer.  Full legalization is inevitable and would bring over swing voters.

The Democrats will just try and take credit for it, like they do with the Civil Rights act.

The sound of potheads heads exploding would be worth it.

Also watching liberals go against pot needles would be hilarious.

I’m pretty sure this would be the case if he “legalized it.” Most if not all states where it is currently illegal have laws on the books outlawing its use.

I would absolutely be all for the removal of MJ as schedule 1.

Absolutely.

Constitutional fundamentalists like me are happy, most potheads are happy, demonweed types have their state legislatures to harass.

Also gives Sessions a face-saving way out due to “fundamental policy differences”.

At minimum reschedule it and give it back to the states. From a logical perspective marijuana does seem to have at a minimum anti nausea effects.

Uh, it has the positive result of reducing law enforcement’s shredding of the constitution. You realize it was legal throughout most of this nation’s history, right?

Traditionally, the difference between the right and the left is they want to ban different things. And we wonder why both sides hate each other.

I agree, it's one of the few things that get put on a ballot that motivates many, and of course then they vote for Democrats while they're at it.

Every time there is a pot initiative on our ballots, it seems many more than usual turn out to vote.

Prove it. I bet it wouldn't make any difference. The ones that are going to vote will go out and check the (D) boxes, the rest will likely be too high to remember to vote.

In “modern times” (post 1970) most of the time when people refer to dope or dopeheads they are referring to hard drugs.  Not a guy that smokes a joint once or twice a week.  I’ve seen people do far worse things to themselves and others under the influence of doctor prescribed pills compared to people under the influence of weed.

I'm in my mid 50s. I've seen alcohol destroy many times more lives than all other drugs combined. Buncha dopeheads they were.

Even without the Kanye thing he should be pushing it anyway. It will blatantly push an issue that means nothing in reality, and republicans should seize this issue. Democrats have never put out in the open, and probably everybody in the world would be on board with that whether they’re liberals or conservatives.

Its the definition of low-hanging fruit

Trump should not waste one iota of MAGA on marijuana.

There are plenty of blue state shitholes where recreational marijuana is legal.

Potheads can go to those shitholes if their high is their priority.
