It's nice to be able to get home from work and actually be able to do something outside. View Quote It would help fend of S.A.D for a lot of people. Bad enough to have to leave for work when it is dark. Having it be dark both to and from work really makes life feel extra shitty in the winter. Naturally California is trying to do away with DST altogether. Yeah, it being dark after work hours won't hurt businesses, especially in tourist areas and near the beach. |

Democrats will come out guns blazing on why we need to either stick either standard time or continue DST, because Orange Man Bad.

At least he actually called it what it is and not what it isn't.

During DST, solar noon doesn't happen at my location until about 1:30 PM. This is . The free market (capitalist) solution is for businesses to adjust their hours to accommodate the changing length of the day as appropriate for them during the year. View Quote You really care about "solar noon?" Really? Why? I suppose you would rather we all wear sundials and everyone gets to set their own time. |

State issue. Not a Fed issue.
This should be determined by the individual states. Meanwhile, business can adopt whatever work hours they desire. |

If there's one thing the government could use, it's daylight being shone into all the dark corners.

How about we all just switch to Zulu time?
Work can start whenever appropriate on a business to business basis. |

Serious as a heart attack. Because of some federal edict, millions of people had to get up an hour earlier than normal this morning.

If we stay on DST we will never get that hour back, ever. The only thing I like about the current system is the 49 hour weekend once a year, the 47 hour one sucks. I've been sleepy all day

It is a state issue and Florida already has voted and passed permanent DST but guess who is holding it up.....the federal government in the form of Congress. Now that trump is in favor of it congress will never approve the change.
