Did you complete the info on the IRS website so they had bank info and such?

Regardless, the first EIP (stimulus) payments will be reconciled on the 2020 tax return, so if you didn't receive it in 2019, you should get it when you file for 2020, if you qualify.

100% bullshit that was invented out of whole cloth. The government creates inflation to steal your purchasing power in order to use it themselves, and also to reward those that are in bed with them. Inflation is a tax, and it screws over normal people who want to save money. Futhermore, if you buy assets with your money to try and beat inflation, when you sell those assets the government is going to take a big chunk as capital gains taxes, even if there were no actual capital gains but only asset price inflation due to the monetary inflation that they themselves created.
View Quote

Bingo, except you left out - its the cruelest f'in tax of them all.

And, you left out the part where the government issues bonds, and then creates inflation so as to cheat the very people that loaned them money.   Brazil, Mexico, US.  You know, all the banana republics.

Today’s dollar purchases about 1/10 of what it did 45 years ago. $10 = $1.
View Quote

So that's not entirely accurate.  While inflation has definitely happened, the factor you are not considering is the quality of item your dollar is purchasing today is exponentially better than what you could purchase in 1975.  For example a $10,000 economy car today will drive for 250,000 miles without a problem.  Try that with a vehicle from 1975.  Also, a 43" TV today can be had for less than $300, in 2010, the same size TV (worse quality) would be $1200.

Where your argument is true is for everyday purchases like groceries. So inflation effects the poorest people the most.  Those considered middle class have arguably more purchasing power today than they did in 1975, even accounting for the loss in value of the dollar.

I'm all for extending the unemployment payments for people who are legit out of work due to the pandemic.  I'm not for just sending stimulus checks to everyone below a certain income level regardless of their employment situation.  I freely admit I'm biased because I make too much to qualify, but even if I didn't I'd still think it was wasting money that could be better targeted.

No shit, the .gov, at least in my mind, totally own this whole mess. It has been a total political shit show since the start. So what if they add some more imaginary numbers to the "deficit", at this point, who cares. I'll give Trump a pass this time, he basically has to get another stimulus through. Hopefully Nancy and her minions will be blamed for any delay, but the Trump hate is strong on the left. We shall see.

True for gasoline, food, homes (which are about 20x but considering better quality in some ways but not others like chipboard instead of plywood so at least 10x).  Even China shoes are 10x compared to old times USA. Car maintenance and parts are likely 10x. Cars and electronics being more of the exceptions. But the big life long expenses are at least 10x.

Politics is a win/lose proposition.  Trump is standing in the way of funding blue state governments to the tune of $2T.

Give him control of the legislative branch and we might get everything we want.  But that's not happening.

Choose now. I'd rather families get money than DiBlasio et al get it to pay down their debts.

I'm 62 years old.  In my lifetime there has never been an election with a choice like we have.

It's win most of what we want, or lose everything.  Every fucking thing.

Muh constitutional scholar, and the last money he used was FEMA money that he was allowed to use for emergencies.
"I'm waiting for the Democrats to approve it," Trump said during a White House press briefing, clarifying that he was not planning to act unilaterally on the stimulus checks.

Buying a hard asset like NODs or ammo is actually a much smarter course of action. Even putting it into the market to offset some of the loss it's going to experience.

It is funny though to see retired people on facebook complaining about this. The entire country's economy was shut down because some old people got scared, at the time it was "Lives are more important than the economy!", and now that the reality of destroying everyone's livelihood is setting in these same old people are moaning about fiscal responsibility.

This is VERY debatable.

I'm still using a Made In America General Electric kitchen mixer that's almost as old as I am. How long you think your typical Made In China mixer sold at Walmart right now will last?

How about the quality of construction of a 1970s house versus quality of construction in your average McMansion?

Even in your example of the car, you're only kind of right. Who is going to be doing barn finds on a 2005 Honda Accord in 50 years?
