THe problem with removing them is, and I see it in some large Hispanic areas is..... like 15 people will be living in a 3 bedroom trailer. They have makeshift ‘rooms’ divided by blankets throughout the trailer. No one can speak English. No forms of ID, maybe one or two will have a local valid one bust most have either no ID or a foreign one. We can’t verify a foreign ID. There is no system for them.
As LEO you can’t just go into these homes collecting IDs and proof of citizenship. You can just yank someone aside and demand papers. You may arrest one for public drunk or DUI or something but unless it’s a major crime like murder they don’t get looked into for deportation or anything. They get released from jail like everyone else. There is no documentation of who they are and as soon as they walk out the door it’s as if they never existed. Because they were listed as whatever name they gave when they were booked which is typically a fake name. If they don’t return for court there will be a bench warrant. But they more then likely gave a fake name with a fake address. So this warrant is just going to sit there filed away forever. He could have given us his cousins name with his brothers DOB because that’s what he knew by heart. It’s a mess. The only thing I can think of is upon entry to the US people’s picture and finger prints should be taken and stored in a database. They should then be issued IDs that any LEO can run like drivers licenses and such. And if you don’t have that ID then you can be detained for further investigation. |
