His strawman was equating veteran license plates that have gone through a state's congressional voting process to institutionalized corruption by way of distributing courtesy cards

How about not being fucking corrupt?

It's corrupt for an officer to have discretion?

It's corrupt to give/have the cards/plates/badges/etc

Either apply the same discretion across the board or not at all.  There would be no use for the corruption gang cards
I don't think you know what that word means, unless you're assuming all the cards are bought and sold.
The mere fact they exist is corrupt and that is an indisputable fact

So all the states that give veterans special license plates and markings on their licenses are corrupt in your eyes too... or are you picking and choosing?

Alrighty then.

Nice straw man, jack boot

Please cite any local, state, or federal law that explicitly allows for the creation and distribution of courtesy cards.  You can choose from literally any city, county, or state in the entire country.  I'll wait

Laws restrict what you're allowed to do. So if there's no law that means its allowed so.....

His strawman was equating veteran license plates that have gone through a state's congressional voting process to institutionalized corruption by way of distributing courtesy cards

I guess you're just going to overlook that states also have law enforcement support and organization license plates that "have gone through the congressional voting process" too.

Picking and choosing... Yup.

Around here the courtesy cards are actually badges that say "commissioner" on them.

I arrested a police commissioner's grand daughter once for a felony warrant completely unrelated to the call I had been dispatched to.

Commissioner actually showed up to the scene because a family member called him.  He was pretty cool about it but definitely let me know who he was.  I responded by saying something like, "cool bro, her bond is $1000".

I get done booking her and head back to the PD and let my LT know I arrested some chick for a felony warrant and some dude that claimed he was a commissioner showed up.  You should have seen the LTs face.  LT had to call the captain and chief at 3am because of me.

Considering your state has "Back the Blue" license plates available, showing that the owner donated to a Missouri law enforcement organization, you shouldn't be surprised.

Should it be illegal for a less qualified person to be hired over a more qualified person - because they know the boss, owner, county commissioner, etc?

Should it be illegal for me to go into the county permit office and get my permit approved quicker, because the office manager is one of my good friends mom?

Should it be illegal for Trump to fire more qualified appointees and appoint less qualified ones based on the personal politics of the individual?

Life isn’t fair, never was, never will be.  It’s up to you to develop connections that benefit you in life.  “But it shouldn’t be this way!”  Oh? The perfect theoretical works doesn’t exist.  And howling about but it should will get you no where.

I’m not praising her.

But her connections weren’t my objections to her.  Her politics, haughty authoritarian nature and callus disregard for the traditions and culture of rugged individualism of the US were more important.  I was never under the impression she was going to be prosecuted.  She won’t.  Saying she will is just lip service to pacify the mob.  Every. Single. Politician. at that level (including Trump) got there because of connections and wealth.  That is simply how the world works.

Our Founding Fathers were wealthy aristocrats who used networks and connections to subvert British law and gain advantages.

Our nation became a great industrial power because of wealthy men who used connections and networks to their benefit.

Underneath the veneer of “fairness” (lol) has always existed an extensive network of interpersonal connections and benefits.  It is how shit really gets done.  Welcome to real life.

I once stopped a USAF major, a pilot out of Dyess.  Let him go with a warning to turn his headlights on. (11 at night on the interstate)   He filed a complaint against me, wrote a letter to the governor and sent letters about his horrible experience to his entire chain of command who then filed ANOTHER complaint on his behalf.

Loss of respect for the boss and compromise of integrity is corrosive.  The only "snitch" culture I think is valuable is that which publicizes this sort of low level corruption; if the guy, your boss, and St. Jude were all publicly embarrassed for throwing their weight around, they wouldn't do so again (or for more serious matters, which they almost inevitably have done)

Uniform worked better than any card. Some people you just don't write.
Never wrote cops, firemen, or military people.

Why wouldn't you write cops?

Because he didn't want to get dressed in the shower.

And there are laws that specifically restrict courtesy cards.  I assume from your username you are in California.

I'll wait

Laws restrict what you’re allowed to do. So if there’s no law that means its allowed so.....

Someone acts with “corrupt intent” when they act in order to unlawfully gain a financial or other form of advantage for themselves or for someone else.

I’m from Arizona.

I pulled over a car once, ran a stop sign. Walked up to the car, the driver was a Marine, in uniform.
He already had his license out, and I was like, "Yeah, I don't need that. Watch those signs. Have a nice day."

Makes sense, seeing as it's all about revenue anyway.  No point in fining yourself.

It is a point in your favor, it means that at least you are not a career scumbag.  Totality of the circumstances comes into play.

As for the cards, that's  a Yankee  thing. Here, a thin blue line or a 100 club sticker on a hooptie is just a pathetic attempt to appear normal.

LE can pull up criminal record when they run the plates so the LTC is pointless.  You should know this.

If you have ever been pulled over for a traffic violation but were sent on your way without a pinch, was the cop corrupt or derelict in his duties? Cops enjoy some discretion in how they perform their duties. I like that. I think it's a good idea to let them think for themselves. Otherwise, they would be required to shove the big blue weenie up everyone's ass.

Formalized discretion is corruption.

I saw numerous people get out of a DUI arrest because they had a card when stopped by our precinct's DUI guys.

I was referencing the silly LTC we have issued in TX.

And we all know NYC is very corrupt so that doesn't surprise me.

Wow...  that's abstract

If you haven't been paying any attention to this country for the past decade, you would know we are on a crash course for a civil war.  Shit...  we're in cold civil war now, waiting to go hot.

There are 2 sides.  Those who worship the State and We The People.  Us lowlife peasants don't care much for corruption from those that We employ

The country is due for a violent reset.  The hard-working honest citizens appreciate you identifying early whose side you will be fighting for.

There is is folks, the "I'm gonna kill you over a traffic ticket somebody else didn't get" post.  I'm surprised it took this long.

Most guys have a fantasy about dating supermodels, but hey, i get it that you want to be different.    I stand a better chance of having Heidi Klum show up on my doorstep in lingerie that you getting that "Boog" you salivate about.  Good luck.

Just a note, I'm 62. I was hearing that same BS from guys just like you at gun counters when I was 19. There wasn't a civil war when Carter was president and there will not be one now.
