That song nearly got me killed
It was 1987 or so, the song had been out for awhile and was really popular.
I was single and almost always was at work. One of my coworkers wanted to go out and decided I needed to get out too. So he took me to one of his favorite bars/nightclubs. He's black and I'm a white guy, that's important later. The nightclub had a predominant black clientele
We walk into the club and it's crowded. There isn't a dress code, but everyone is well dressed.
The dance floor has a lot of people on it, but it's not overly packed.
As we walk in, there's a couple of black women talking with what I assumed were their boyfriends. The guys were in suits and looked like they could be professional athletes, much larger than I am.
One of the women was supermodel beautiful, and wearing a bright red, knit dress. It was very tight, and very short.
Those guys left a few minutes after we got there, I'm not really sure when. I had just gotten my first drink and was standing by a railing next to the dance floor. The woman in the red dress came up to me and asked me to dance. We went out on the dance floor and the song was was soon over. The next song was "The Butt". She turned around, bent over, backed up, and started grinding on me.
While I'm enjoying the dance, my buddy is trying to get my attention. When the song ended, she turned to me and we started some small talk when my buddy grabs my arm and says he needs to talk to me.
Her boyfriend had come back and was definitely unhappy. My buddy knew who the guy was, apparently he was a jealous type with a violent temper. The woman was simply using a white guy to piss off her boyfriend and I was the guy that night. She saw the boyfriend, they had some angry words, and she was all over him not 2 minutes later.
I survived, but made sure I stayed away from the woman and her boyfriend. I didn't need to accidentally bump into him. It apparently scarred me for life, I remember so many details from that night and it's been over 35 years. I love that song.
