What a clusterfuck. I hope the sailors are found and OK. They are going too run out of DDG's at this rate.

VIDEO
June 17, 2017: Seven sailors were killed when the Fitzgerald, a destroyer, was broadsided by a Philippines-registered cargo ship, about 60 miles off the coast of Japan. A Navy report released in August found that within 90 seconds of the collision, seawater began rushing through a gaping hole in the starboard hull, filling berths in which sailors had been sleeping. In response to the report’s findings, which blamed the ship’s crew, the Navy relieved two senior officers. May 9, 2017: A 60- to 70-foot South Korean fishing boat collided with the Lake Champlain, a guided-missile cruiser, on its port side while the cruiser was conducting routine operations in international waters. No one was injured. Fishing boat crew members later said the fishing vessel did not have a radio, so they did not hear the calls from the Navy, a Navy official said at the time. February 1, 2017: The USS Antietam, a US Navy Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser, damaged its propellers and spilled hydraulic oil into the water after running aground off the coast of Japan. The incident, which occurred Tuesday while the ship was anchoring in Tokyo Bay near Yokosuka, Japan, did not result in any injuries to US or Japanese personnel, but the discharge of up to 1,100 gallons of hydraulic oil prompted environmental concerns. Aug. 19, 2016: The Louisiana, a nuclear ballistic-missile submarine, and the Eagleview, a Military Sealift Command support vessel, collided while conducting routine operations in the Strait of Juan de Fuca off the coast of Washington State. There was damage to the hulls of both the Eagleview and the Louisiana. No one was injured. |

Source: McMaster Fails to Brief Trump Before ‘That’s Too Bad’ Error
A source with direct knowledge of these matters tells Breitbart News that the senior staff at the White House, including National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster, did not brief President Donald Trump on the collision the Navy destroyer USS John McCain had with an oil tanker near Singapore before he originally seemingly dismissed the incident saying, “that’s too bad.” Trump later, after receiving more information on it, tweeted that he hopes for the best for the lost sailors. The collision left 10 sailors missing and another five injured. “That’s too bad,” Trump said when responding to shouted press questions about the collision of the USS John McCain with an oil tanker, per a White House pool report earlier in the evening. ... Why blame McMaster for Trump running his mouth on Twitter? View Quote Because the President should learn things from his staff before he hears about them on the news. The presidents reaction was the same as everyone elses before we knew there were casualties. the question is why the president learns things at the same speed as every day citizens. And that would fall on the National Security Advisor or SECDEF (though NSA's primary role as advisor to the president makes him #1 on the list.) Trump doesn't take public transportation. Doesn't mean you have to become unhinged. |

View Quote I don't know if McMaster briefed him at all before the president tweeted. The president operates on an optempo that is unheard of. He is always awake, always checking news feeds. I don't think McMaster is running the NSC as the president requires to match his battle rhythem. Which is surprising. McMaster knows the staff supports the commander and should know how to get the information to the president faster than uncleared news. When the commander looks bad, it is always on the staff. |
