Sam Rockwell is just excellent in his many works, but you never hear his name.

I also like Casey Affleck in the few movies I've seen him in. Also tons better than his brother.

Recently re-watched "The assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford."  Not much talk of the film even when it was new, but I always thought it was great.
Kinda reminds me of "The Civil War" by Ken Burns with the era and narration.

Even though I believe Rockwell to be the better actor, I think Affleck almost outshined even Pitt in this film.

Who are some underrated actors and even films you enjoy?

Call me wierd but I thought "Punch Drunk Love" was pretty good, if not a tad weird, but so am I, according to some.

Bill (William H.) Macy is one of the best actors alive and never gets the recognition he deserves.

Nice, humble and down to earth guy as well.

Lena Dunham in "The Putrid Elephant."  I didn't realize she was even playing a putrid elephant until halfway through.  Truly an emotional rollercoaster!

I really like Oscar Isaac....I'm sure he's a liberal douche, but to my knowledge he hasn't ran his mouth off about it yet to ruin his movies for me.

Yep, liked him in Ex Machina, iirc. Another I don't remember the title of, where he plays kind of a murderous drifter in the mojave or some such location.

Jeremy Renner.

Actually came in to say Casey Affleck and Giovanni Ribisi.  Both were mentioned right away

Also, don't know if he necessarily qualifies as underrated, but GD really likes to shit on Nic Cage because he never turns down a payday no matter how shitty the script.  But he is a phenomenal actor.  Just watch movies like Matchstick Men or Leaving Las Vegas

Other notable mentions are Michael Peña and David Morse.

I liked that one too. Check out “The Meyerowitz Stories” on Netflix if you haven’t already seen it.  Sandler is brilliant in it.  100% believable as the character he plays, and tons of depth.

I would pay big money just to see Gary Oldman, alone on a stage, sitting on a bar stool, reading names out of the phone book.
