Lived in Joco on the Kansas side for a decade before moving to Wichita two years ago.

I think the downtown stadium idea was stupid as fuck, regardless of who was funding it. The Kansas City metro area is a commuter city. Sure, they have the stupid streetcar. If people don't have good parking options close, they're not going to go. When we lived up there, we'd shell out the bucks a few times a year to catch a Royals game. If it's a hassle to get to the stadium they're going to see worse attendance. On top of that, it's a tailgate city. How are people going to be able to do that in the middle of midtown?

The only venue up there we travel for anymore is Kansas Speedway, which rules.

Fuck the NFL. They are tax-free and somehow manage to rape cities, fans, and tax payers to fund their endeavors.

Those of you saying nfl helps the economy are wrong.

First stadium money comes from people buying hat can’t spend  invest their own money

Peoples entertainment budget is usually fixed. If they buy a ticket to a game they eat out less, don’t go to the movies etc. again the money comes from somewhere.

The stadiums are designed to keep people from spending outside the stadium.

The money spent doesn’t stay in the local economy. The people who get. The money spend it in other places

So the owner of the local pizzeria has to pay higher taxes to make someone else richer and reduce his number of customers.

I hope this happens every where, Glendale residents got sold a bill of goods when the Cardinals and Coyotes had their rink and stadium built.

Tell those teams and owners if you want it, you foot the bill not us taxpayers who are already taxed enough.

I'm a sports fan, not baseball very much, but public funding of stadium complexes never deliver the economic boom to offset the tax burden to residents.  I would have voted no.  If you can pay Patrick Mahomes > 500mm then you can pay for a stadium.

This, or raise ticket prices so it is funded by the people that go to games.
People not interested in sports should not have to pay for it.
Politicians will say it is good for the economy (because money spent parking, eating, drinking, etc.)
