No we are not the minority in this nation. We are just fucking lazy and make excuses everytime a company goes against our beliefs and ideals. Meanwhile the Democrats try to crucify every company they can and make them bend the knee. We need to start doing the same thing and stick together. Stop making excuses for companies and start holding them accountable. View Quote In more rural areas there may be a majority of conservatives. On a national level, the liberal-majority urban areas out-number the lower population conservative areas. I keep hearing this "we're the majority, we're just lazy so that's why elections go the way they do" excuse here for years now. |

ARE these "privately held guns" that are being destroyed? Or are you assuming this? If they're crime-related guns, guns turned in for destruction, etc, they aren't "privately held guns". hat makes you think that I've forgotten that peoples opinion here run the gamut of all beliefs? I'm sure that SOME might agree with your assessment. View Quote You simply don't get it. Some departments make damned good money selling confiscated and forfeited guns in bulk to local FFLs. You'll be shocked to hear this, but there exists dept brass that really believe (like most here) in the idea of more guns, less crime. It's a win/win for them. Anyway, I'm pretty sure, based on the discussion here, that most folks are far more concerned about their donations than this single incident. Go run down their donation list and compare the recipients with their "on the issues" page. They're all grabbers. |

@THR-Thumper If he can't return them to BM then he should offer them up for sale at cost with the purchase of a firearm. That way he doesn't get hosed on the inventory he's stuck with and is kind of a fuck you to BM. Or sell them for the going rate and send the profits to pro 2A groups in Oregon. View Quote Get one BM knife (in stock only) at dealer net for each $500 (250?) in firearms purchases. Guessing dealer markup on a $150 knife is $40-50-ish (please correct me if those margins are off) In essence, the dealer is offering ~10-20% off all guns at BM's expense. He sells firearms for a profit and unloads otherwise unsaleable BM stock. Win-win. Any nastygrams from BM lawyers about MAP get instantly leaked ti the interweb. |

Benchmade's "official post" on their FB page is over 5000 comments. From my browsing, about 99% are negative. I've already seen a FB post by a smaller knife dealer where they said "we stock and sell knives from many manufacturers but none of them consult with us before doing something stupid". I bet the dealers are starting to worry about all the Benchmade stock they have on hand. Benchmade enforces MAP for dealers, so it's not like you can use discounts to move them... View Quote |

Why can't you sell them on eBay? Sellers have to list each part individually Practice balisong or butterfly knives that have holes in the blade and can't be sharpened Spring-assisted knives. There has to be manual movement of the blade by a thumb stud or screw that's clearly visible on the blade |

You'd be surprised what ends up being used in various crimes. In my experience, the police are acting under a court order when they destroy evidence. I know it sucks, but they can't keep them forever and the local community often has a fit if they are sold back to an FFL and the same gun ends up being used in a crime AGAIN. ETA: Especially if it's used in a homicide. And if a cop gets killed? All hell breaks loose. Usually the guns are test fired for ballistic evidence, i.e., not real popular to own after the projectiles and casings are entered into the database. View Quote Is there a specific case you know of where a gun was sold by police to an FFL, that gun was then legally sold by the FFL, and that gun was then used to kill a cop, and the history of the gun was made public and all hell broke loose? |
