I had a fly episode earlier this Fall similar to this, but never saw the maggots.
For over a week straight I kept finding these big flies in my house. I swear I killed around 20 of them, then they were gone. I have a clean home, no pets, no food laying around. Just me living here. All I can figure is that a prego fly got in and laid eggs in my garbage and they all hatched and grew in one week. Living alone, I usually only fill and empty the garbage once a week. I have no idea why you are seeing them on the floor! |

we need pics of the "maggots" to make sure they are maggots. Made anyone mad lately? Had any service done to your house recently?
Details man... DETAILS. |
|
Sure they were fly larvae and not termite larvae? Gets cold outside, they start looking for warmer places.

Maggots by themselves aren't any more gross than any ol' insect. They're useful for lots of things. |

Stare into a TV set with the ant wars on it and see if it talks to you, sometimes only works with children.

Just when you think you've seen every possible topic on ARFCOM, one like this pops up. +1 |

Dead rat in the wall or ceiling. This, or other vermin. |

My ol' lady was complainin' about the gnats when it started to cool down. I told her she needed to....(practice better feminine hygeine). Guess where I slept.
|
|
Dead thing in attic or soffet(sp).
Maggots fell through ceiling lighting fixture trying to get out. Any odd smells in the house? Like death? NN |
|
Well, you will have to sweep up as many of them as you can find. Otherwise one of them will lay it's eggs in your ear while you're sleeping. They'll be feeding on your brain within a week probably. So - sweep up good. Good night. |

You don't live in California, do you? Ever since the marriage ban last week, they've probably been searching for a place to hide out. Oh. Wait. You said Maggots. Nevermind. |

We had this happen to us a few weeks ago. The cause was supposedly apples or cereal. Basically we just had to kill them whenever we saw them for about two weeks. After that they went away. We are no filthy people thank you very much, it just supposedly happens from time to time as a result of food.

Ok, from that picture... yeah... never mind. The ones we had were tiny, maybe 3-4 mm tops.

Do any of the pictures at the link look like your critters? Carpet Beetle Larvae, Indian Meal Worms, and Larder Beetle Larvae are quite common in carpet. If you click on whichever looks the closest, you should be able to find a link to a bulletin about how to eradicate them and prevent them in the future.

ETA: She checked her book and it isn't a termite she could find all the examples of the larvae have bigger heads. She said if you have dried/rotting leaves up against your house or a garden/flower bed up against the house they might be getting in to survive the winter. |

You wouldn't happen to have a refridgerator in the garage that happened to have gotten unplugged ~3 months ago? Checked both fridges, don't smell anything from the attic, checked outdoors and windows, nada. Dude!! They are coming from fly eggs that are being laid on something worth eating... find it!! RF |
