I owned a car before I had a license.

It was a '77 Dodge Aspen with a thee on the tree and a 225 slant six.  I sold it to my older brother when I was done with it.

1964 Mercury Comet, 3 speed on the column and vise grips for steering wheel. It was a junkyard freebee. I was 12 or 13. Guy at junkyard said I could have it if I could drive it home. Actually was a nice car after I put in a steering column.

In Driver's Ed in '75, the inner city yutes called it the "Fwa-fwaty-two."  We just called it a Cutlass.

~1980 toyota corolla, 4 speed manual was the primary vehicle - my grandfather's.  Then a 1965(?) F100, 3 on the tree, which was a "ranch truck".  And a 9N tractor. Started driving around 9-10 and then had to unlearn bad habits when actual driving test came around :D

A 63?  1 ton Ford Dump Truck IIRC.    My dad would leave me at a job and I had to learn to move it around the jobs or carry things all the way to it.    Leave a teenager w/ keys to a vehicle and you know what that choice is going to be!   I must have been 12 or 13 at the time because I had my license at 14.

I worked at a grocery store in high school and was driving a forklift and accidentally got a wheel off the pavement and it got stuck. I panicked and tried to pull it out with that car. Needless to say it didn't work and I destroyed the transmission. Luckily the butcher had a big truck and did get it out. Nobody in mgmt ever knew. Then I got home and told my dad "something's wrong with the car". Good times.

LOL. I humbly submit my entry among so many awesome cars: a 1994 Ford Ranger extended cab. 5 spd manual. I've been hooked on manual transmissions ever since.

84 Buick Skyhawk 2 door.

Learned how to drive a stick on a 94 Wrangler I bought new. Went out with my friends in it that night. This was before I knew that driving a manual transmission is supposed to be some arcane skill that people take absurd pride in.

70 Ford Maverick. Bench seats, 200ci straight six, 3 on the tree and manual steering. It was Mom's car, bought new in late 69. I learned on it when I was around 15, which would have been 1972. Eventually Mom got a newer car and my parents gave the Maverick to my Brother, who totaled it within a year after getting it. Too bad, it was a neat little car except for the craptastic column shifter.

A 1966 Mercury Parklane.
It would go at least 110 mph.  I know this because I was standing on the transmission hump watching the speedometer going up when my mom said to my Dad "aren't we going fast enough?
